Trees for Dorset has taken on the maintenance of sites where Dorset ITF planted trees as well as continuing to plant trees at new sites and has started its own planting grant scheme. Putting together what they have seen and learnt they can construct a food web for the life around a tree. In autumn, with Years 1 and 3, we collect local tree seeds, name them, sow them in pots, and collect autumn leaves for identification. In spring, Year 3 plant out their seedlings into tree nurseries we have created in each school. We grow trees from willow cuttings. O support our objectives and especially tree planting and the School Project we have a number of fund raising events that also provide an opportunity to promote trees and raise awareness of Trees for Dorset. Among the most important are our plant sale with cream teas, a supper evening and our stand at the Oak Fair at Stock Gaylard (see events page). Photos below show our plant sale in the beautiful gardens of the Old Rectory Langton Long, courtesy of Mr and Mrs Skipwith.
