Kathy and I left home early Saturday morning, we were headed to England for our daughter's wedding. Our first stop was New York City. We had several hours to kill before our flight left for London, so we hopped a train and went into the city. We had ridden the Long Island Railroad into Pennsylvania Station, from there you can walk to Times Square, so that's what we decided to do. Notice the sidewalks full of people, not something you see much of here in Florida. Close up of the Empire State Building.

It was about 4:00 in the morning when I left home and headed to the Tampa airport to begin my journey to Togo. I flew to New York City with five other people from the Tampa area. We had a long layover in NY so a few of us decided to go to the city. We boarded the subway to Penn Station the came out into the city on a cool autumn day. We were hungry and found a nice little pizza shop around the corner from Time Square. The pizza was very good. Of course, I had go pose for the obligatory shot in the city.

On Jan 25 we met our team in New York to fly to Accra Ghana where we would take a 5 hour bus ride in to Togo. We were going to build an Aquaponics Facility for the ABWE Blind Center. To learn more about what an aquaponics facility is you can view this video. Here is our team. We saw some sights that evening. It was very cold, 17 degrees with a wind chill of 6 degrees. It was a fun time with friends, we just took the time to slow down a bit and it was a welcome break. Here we are pulling out of Port Canaveral as the sun was setting. The summer of 2001, my wife Kathy and daughter Janelle decided to go on one of these trips. They went to Ecuador as part of a team that built a multi-purpose building for a deaf ministry operated by Ray and Anita Bradley. After they returned from that trip, we began to attend the CWE gatherings like the golf tournaments and picnics. We really enjoyed being around the folks involved with CWE. This website is here to share my experiences with you.
