Before I was a mother… | Southernly Ever After

Living our happily ever after – southern style! Before I was a mother…. Posted in Life In General. Before I was a mother, I never knew how many conversations I’d have about poop. I never knew how excited I would be to watch my baby learn something new. I never knew just how tiny newborn diapers are (and preemie diapers in our case), and how fast they would outgrow them. I never knew I could miss someone in the very next room so much, when I lay her down to sleep. I never knew just how important naps are.

Whitlee | 8 Months | Southernly Ever After

Living our happily ever after – southern style! Posted in Monthly Update. Funny story. The other day, a girl I work with was asking if I had started planning Whitlee’s first birthday party. I was like, Well yeah. Cause, I’m obsessive. Which I have. I’ve actually had a secret Pinterest board since before she was born. Crazy, I know. But then my friend was like, Yeah I figured you did. It’s like what. 4 months away? How did this happen? Still only has eyes for her daddy. And because, ducks! Whew, another m...

Life in Fast Forward: 05.2014
http://echolslife.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Life in Fast Forward. Kate Summary - Month 1. Weeks 1 and 2. We spent the first two weeks getting into a routine with nursing. I am loving every minute of it, and that special time of bonding between the two of us. We started with a 2 1/2 to 3 hour feeding schedule. Kate slept a lot in the first two weeks. We couldn't remember how much was normal, and were getting worried - she seriously slept all of the time. She has a good set of lungs on her and can scream when she is not happy. At her 2 week pediatri...

Life in Fast Forward: kate's blood sugar
http://echolslife.blogspot.com/2014/05/hospital-incident-1-blood-sugar.html
Life in Fast Forward. Since Kate was over a certain weight at birth, the nurses explained to us that they would need to check her blood sugar a few times the first day or so, to make sure it didn't drop too low. This is standard procedure, so no big deal. This went on for awhile, and the last day at the hospital - the CNO (Chief Nursing Officer) - head of all nurses - stopped by my room to talk about it. Seriously! Im glad you are enjoying your time nursing! Your blood sugar story makes me so sad because...

Living our happily ever after – southern style! This year I sort of let Whitlee pick her costume. I made a collage of four pictures of costumes I was thinking about and let her pick from the four. She picked Tinkerbell! I don’t know if you remember last years costume. Here’s our crew of four (soon to be SIX! 8211; Supergirl, Jack Skellington, Tinkerbell and the tiniest baseball player. We did a hayride in my sister in laws pasture and the kids LOVED it! And maybe coordinate with the others. Measuring rig...

Life in Fast Forward. I want to take some time to document Kate's birth story, and a few details about our hospital stay. I am not quite ready to sit down and write that out yet, so for now it will just be photos from our days in the hospital. :). Kate Elise Echols was born on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. She weighed 8 lbs, 10 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. I was at 39 weeks, 6 days gestation. Heading to the hospital to have this baby! Not the most flattering photo of me - but what can you do. :). After 15...

Life in Fast Forward. We have lived in our home for 3 years now, and have taken the approach to sloooooooowly furnish and decorate it a little at a time. We have been so excited to be able to add a few improvements this year, and I really feel like our house is becoming a home! It's just so exciting! Boxes galore, ready to be put together! And final product with rug included. We need some artwork on the walls now, but all in time. Surround sound installation - speakers going in at the front of the room.

Taylor and Gwendolyn: 24 Weeks
http://taylorandgwendolyn.blogspot.com/2015/05/24-weeks.html
Wednesday, May 20, 2015. 131 lbs. Yes, that would be 2 whole pounds up from last week. Yikes. How I love them! Since we're on the topic of clothing, I splurged a few weeks ago and ordered the most adorable t-shirt from here. It went on sale, I just had to). I stumbled across this shop through someone on Instagram and I just love their shirts! Nothing yet. I have definitely had a few moments of paranoia in the mornings where I can swear that I see one or two, but I think I'm just overanalyzing my skin.
