Where are we? Report into Flooding at Llandanwg. It was the 9th Earl (1752-1826), George Finch, Earl of Winchilsea who created the present Llandanwg harbour entrance in 1819 [see Shell Island. To counteract this groynes were established on the beach to minimise wave deflection along the beach from the breakwater. The groynes are now derelict. Where are we? Report into Flooding at Llandanwg. This site is to promote interest in the Twyni Llandanwg Sand Dunes. It is setup by members of the Llandanwg Dunes Protection group (LDPG) whose aim is to preserve and protect the dunes. The site includes some history of the Artro river estuary. There is some science about dune formation, importance and the flora and fauna supported. Also photographs and details about the work done in recent years. Comments and contributions are welcome.
