Snowdonia was the latest destination for our group that had first met on Kilimanjaro in 2007. Many of us had been to the area in Oct 2008 when we had completed the Snowdon Horseshoe. Used Google sat nav on cousin S’s recommendation to get me to Garth Farm campsite just beyond Plas y Brenin at Capel Curig. Very good journey and whilst I was initially a bit surprised at 2 diversions I could see from the long queues I zipped past that it was in fact great! Luckily it was still able to hold the tent up.

It took me just over 3 hours to reach Dol Einion camp site which is right at the foot of Cadair Idris. The path up the mountain leads out of the field. I then self cooked chicken curry and rice and peas which was nice and have chatted to a couple, he American, she Portuguese and a family from Cornwall mum dad and two teenage girls. No signal so rang home on pay phone. It’s gone very quiet in the sitting room! Dolwyddelan in the rain. I don’t think either M or I slept very well. Of course my actual friends with beards are different (just in case Nigel reading this).
