Doily Resurrection? | how do my UFO's grow?
https://onhooksandneedles.wordpress.com/2008/12/16/doily-resurrection
How do my UFO’s grow? Bits of my life and my adventures with thread, hook, yarn and needle. On a visit to Venu’s aunt, I came across a doily draped over an end table. It had broken threads, and stains…but what upset me most was how badly it was crocheted. Badly formed stitches, scores of errors in the crocheting, bad finish… The pattern however looked really promising and I had to bring this one home and make it. This is the original doily that called out to me. And a close up. 13 responses ». December 1...

How do my UFO’s grow? Bits of my life and my adventures with thread, hook, yarn and needle. I have an FO! Sometimes forgetting to pack a pattern sheet along with your ‘on the go’ project does result in good news. Deepti had to appear for one of her MBA entrance exams at Cochin, and we had decided to make it a family trip to visit my aunts, Venu’s cousin and Swapna. We did get to meet Swapna and Sridhar, though the visit was distressingly short. I did get to see her gorgeously crocheted Marquise top. Very ...

Resurrection at Christmas | how do my UFO's grow?

How do my UFO’s grow? Bits of my life and my adventures with thread, hook, yarn and needle. I had stopped blogging and my last post is from nearly 3 years ago. I wonder if any one still follows my blog. Those unknown faithful followers and the random visitors who stop by must be wondering, what made me stop and what prompts me to restart now, after such a long gap. 11 responses ». How do my UFO’s grow? Bits of my life and my adventures with thread, hook, yarn and needle. Monthly Archives: December 2008. Random facts about me. I came across this on Samantha’s blog. And really liked it. My Name is Jaishree. Childhood Ambition – i wanted to teach english literature to college students.this was more of a teenage ambition. i don’t remember any childhood ambitions. Fondest memory – another sad thing to realise …don’t have a ‘fondest memory’. First job — teacher. On a visit to Venu’...

How do my UFO’s grow? Bits of my life and my adventures with thread, hook, yarn and needle. Monthly Archives: December 2011. October 2011, my long planned trip to Bhopal. I had planned a 10 day stay to help my mother out during the post-operative phase of her cataract surgery. Though the surgery by itself is not considered a major one, the post operative phase needed her to stay away from hot stoves, so cooking would not be feasible. And hence my planned long stay with them. We entered the waiting room a...

Living Charlotte Mason in California: Yet another post on the Book of Centuries
http://livingcminca.blogspot.com/2013/06/yet-another-post-on-book-of-centuries.html
Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Yet another post on the Book of Centuries. If you want to read my previous posts outlining our process of figuring out what to do for the Book of Centuries, you can read them here. To see what an actual Book of Centuries looked like in the P.N.E.U. school, you can see one here. Load times are extremely. I settled on something a little nicer and more durable with thicker paper that a fine tip Sharpie would not bleed through - the Moleskine A4 Sketch Book. The second page is from 449...

Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Choose Some Special Study Part II - The Changing Year. In case you missed Part I, you can find it here. Since that post, I was able to obtain a copy of The Changing Year. By FM Haines, the book mentioned by Charlotte Mason in Vol. 6 and her programmes. As an aid to the "great deal of out-of-door work" her students did in a term. These papers originally appeared in The Parents' Review of 1916 as a series of monthly Walks. From the Chapter titled "A Walk in April". Pretty, and the...

Living Charlotte Mason in California: Holiday Handcraft Fair 2011
http://livingcminca.blogspot.com/2011/12/holiday-handcraft-fair-2011.html
Friday, December 2, 2011. Holiday Handcraft Fair 2011. The Handcraft Fair we had earlier this year in the Spring worked out so well, we decided to have another one for the Holidays. It turned out to be another great event with so many different creative handcrafts. My son made homemade artisan bread. Crispy crunchy crust, and oh, so soft inside. You must try the recipe yourself - it's so easy to make and wonderfully satisfying. My daughter embroidered felt ornaments. December 2, 2011 at 2:57 AM. Our youn...

Living Charlotte Mason in California: Scheduling and How We Do Ambleside

Sunday, June 12, 2011. Scheduling and How We Do Ambleside. One of the most common questions new homeschooling Moms have is "What does a day look like? I remember my stomach churning in knots the summer prior to my oldest starting Kindergarten. Everything I had read about the Charlotte Mason method resonated deeply with me - treating the child as a person, living books, not dumbing things down, time in nature, short lessons, art and composer study, DELAYING GRAMMAR! But the Ambleside Online site. Let us a...

Thursday, May 31, 2012. The Spring Handicraft Fair. Cultivate the artistic feeling. Train in neatness, or good taste. Train in manual dexterity. Establish due relations with various materials. Experience the pleasure of exact movements and the triumph of success. The day was spent outdoors, marveling at all the creative ideas. And of course buying. Our treasures, minus what we ate:.
