Keeping it simple. Well, at least trying. Saturday, June 16, 2012. After two and a half years, the time has come for me to transition out of blogging. In the beginning. My goal was to simplify my life to pave the way for graduate school. Now that I've completed the first year of graduate school, I'm so glad I started the journey! Not only have I decluttered, cut back on things, and simplified my life, I have enjoyed sharing my adventures, lessons, and fails. So why quit now? So thank you for reading!

the_uncomplication_project: Mini Minimalist Interview: Nolan

http://uncomplication.blogspot.com/2012/05/mini-minimalist-interview-nolan.html

Keeping it simple. Well, at least trying. Monday, May 28, 2012. Mini Minimalist Interview: Nolan. Today's Mini Minimalist Interview features Nolan from Lawrence, Kansas. Nolan is my boyfriend. After several years working high-paying but also high-stress corporate jobs, Nolan transitioned to become a high school teacher and coach. What is your current living situation? I am single (legally speaking) and living in an apartment. What do you think of when you think of "minimalism"? Do you collect anything?

Keeping it simple. Well, at least trying. Monday, June 4, 2012. Mini Minimalist Interview: Denise. Today's mini-minimalist interview is with Denise. Denise blogs over at Musings and Ponderings from the Blunderosa. I met Denise through cardio-kickboxing. So… I have a tendency towards random ponders. Kristen flattered me in asking for my ponders on minimalism, Thanks, Kristen! I also love listening to Marcus and Marek play music and talk baseball. Our family has succeeded in compromising on possessions for...

the_uncomplication_project: FAIL: Attempted Purse Minimalism

http://uncomplication.blogspot.com/2011/04/fail-attempted-purse-minimalism.html

Keeping it simple. Well, at least trying. Thursday, April 14, 2011. FAIL: Attempted Purse Minimalism. Last week, my purse. Was featured on the Everyday Minimalist's "The Minimalist Wallet Series." At first I was extremely flattered, but became a bit miffed when most of the comments are like, "Um, yeah. That's a lot of stuff to carry around, and I'm not even a minimalist.". So a little criticism can't hurt? Enter evil, foreshadowing laughter.). I am going to go WAY minimalist and not even TAKE my purse!

http://uncomplication.blogspot.com/2010/04/brazilian-fish-stew.html

Keeping it simple. Well, at least trying. Wednesday, April 7, 2010. I tried this recipe out for my mom last weekend and it's definitely a have-again! I got the recipe here. You should check out that recipe since they have pictures plus a recipe for rice (which I didn't make). This recipe is a bit more complicated than most of my cooking ventures, but it's quite tasty especially with crusty bread! Here's what I did (basically taken straight from simplyrecipes.com). 3 cloves garlic, minced. Use a large spo...

Hope.: November 2010

http://expectinggood.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 29, 2010. Within 30 seconds she explained my pain. Jen and I were sweeping out her basement. I think people go through phases of understanding God. One when they first start to encounter Him. Then they move into this false confidence of thinking they have Him figured out, phase two. Eventually, we move to a place where we face serious doubts, but usually during this phase we're afraid to say anything.because we understand just how little we have figured out. I think this is brilliant.

http://expectinggood.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 19, 2010. Within Our Own Walls. Last week I was telling my brother-in-law Bobby about a friend of mine. I commented that she had an incredible heart, but beat herself up a lot. We both reflected that this seems to be the case with most Christians. We have perfected the art of self-deprecation. We are born, raised, and die within the silent walls of our own shame. I shouldn't have said that to him." "I need to pray more." "Why can't I break this addiction? Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Friday...

http://expectinggood.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Yesterday I posted about how I'm learning more about the importance of commitment. For the sake of refinement. Call me a dork.but I get excited because I feel there's a strong supporting Biblical theme of covenant. Noahic Covenant (Genesis 8-9). Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 12-17). Covenant with Jacob (Genesis 28:12-15). Covenant with Joseph (Genesis 49? Mosaic Covenant (Exodus 19-24). The Israel Covenant (Deut. 29-30). Davidic Covenant (2 Sam. 7). The New Covenant (Hebrews 8).

However, I just read this post by Donald Miller. Both articles from yesterday and today hit on the topic of meaningful community. I'm growing in my conviction about the way I view community. http://expectinggood.blogspot.com/2010/12/some-of-coolest-people-in-hastings.html

Wednesday, December 8, 2010. Some of the Coolest People in Hastings. I was recently listening to an interview with Shane Claiborne. And he shared the following anecdote about two men discussing why pain and suffering exist, ".one guy said, 'You know, I wonder why God allows all this poverty and pain and hurting in the world? And his friend says, 'Well, why don't you ask God that? And the guy says, 'Well, I guess I'm scared.' And he says, 'What are you scared of? And it's really beautiful. Last year I int...

http://expectinggood.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 26, 2010. What do I blog about after a week of being so pathetically hopeless that I kind of want to hide in shame and pretend I never told any one that I was striving to expect good? I'd rather not admit that over the last week, I felt like screaming "Screw your plan, God! I've got this one under control! I'd rather not admit that while babysitting my nephew I related to his cries of hysteria that his needs were not being immediately met. Thursday, January 21, 2010. Or do you cry out as...

http://expectinggood.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 24, 2010. Summer 2007- Spring Hill Camps, Michigan) One year out of college, I felt like a complete failure. I didn't realize it was possible for a person to crash their car twice, quit three jobs, and live off toast for 12 full months. but that had been my life. I had a degree, but no direction. And I felt that I had already wasted my life by the age of 23. He emphasized that like the wind, God speaks in ways that are strong and present. Wind is a mysterious movement. It's actual...Meg i...

http://tiffduncan.blogspot.com/2011/08/day-18-your-shoes.html

See, what had happened was. Monday, August 1, 2011. Day 18: Your shoes. Truthfully, I'd rather go barefoot. Not wear any shoes at all.which I did for a few months in college.just to win a bet (we tied). But this post isn't about my "I'd rather go barefoot" speech. It's about my shoes. So, here they are. These are currently my favorite shoes. I wear them. A lot. To play basketball in. They're awesome. Seriously. Best pair of running shoes I've ever had. Love them. Sure, that'd be the easy option. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. My freshman year of college I created a grid on a marker board scheduling my day in 15 min. increments. 3:00-4:15 "Study for History Exam". Sadly enough, I'm not making this stuff up. Ask my friend Duncan who mocked my schedule every time she would mozie into my dorm room to see if I wanted to play Donkey Kong on her old school Nintendo. "I just don't know if I have time, Duncan. Maybe I can fit you in after dinner.like 6:45-7:00.". From All Things Converge. I also know Becca fro...
