The Philippines: Entry 5; October 15, 2007: underthemercy

http://underthemercy.livejournal.com/677.html

Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Luzon, Philippines. The Philippines: Entry 5; October 15, 2007. This is my most recent entry. Ill try to organize this by subject matter. Ants Have I mentioned the ants? The ants in the room. I mean, what can you really do? We frequently wake up at night with ants crawling on us. I hypothesize that we just smell like ant food and so they go searching us while were in a blissful comatose. If we wake up we usually brush them off and go back to sleep. Post a new comment. We will log ...

Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Luzon, Philippines. The Philippines: Entry 17 (Final) "Agawid tayo. Nalpastayo. Inkayo ton bigat." April 28, 2008. The Ilocano translation is: we are going home. we are finished. We leave tomorrow morning.). The month of April, aside from VBS and the presence of visitors, has been hot and somewhat relaxed. And the kids hold our hands for one last time. I dont think they quite understand that were leaving for good. Thats okay. We dont either. This morning I sat at the beach just af...

Gulliver: September 2008

http://gulliveronline.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Reflections of a Yahoo. Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Well friends, I brought two significant things back with me from India this time: Malaria and a job. I suppose I didn't "officially" obtain these things until a few days after returning to the States. Both happened in Toledo, Ohio, where I will be moving to in a little over a month. But they did originate in Asia. From Kolkata I trained back to Varanasi to run some errands and to say farewell to the Sharmas (Lala, Vibha, Vinayak, and Vinit). Vina...

Gulliver: Arrived

http://gulliveronline.blogspot.com/2008/05/arrived.html

Reflections of a Yahoo. Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Well, I finally made it! I arrived in Delhi this afternoon after a long trans-Pacific flight. It's pretty warm here this time of year, and it's hard for me to imagine that only yesterday I was cross-country skiing through the foothills of whatever mountains are near Snohomish. (Yes, it was fun. But I must have fallen at least twenty times and my butt still hurts! But I didn't tell him so. May 18, 2008 at 9:27 AM. Looking forward to your stories, Rachel!

Gulliver: A Frustrating Speaking Experience

http://gulliveronline.blogspot.com/2008/04/frustrating-speaking-experience.html

Reflections of a Yahoo. Wednesday, April 30, 2008. A Frustrating Speaking Experience. Don't worry, I'm back. I haven't drowned in the sea. I went to Hawaii and spent as little time as possible on my computer. One day soon I may write about the Dalai Lama, but it won't be tonight. I'm too tired. The whole mob jumped and ran for the door. It was lunch time. I had just told them about starving babies, and they were still concerned about lunch! Labels: Kingdom of God. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Gulliver: Here In America (Part 1)

http://gulliveronline.blogspot.com/2008/10/here-in-america-part-1.html

Reflections of a Yahoo. Thursday, October 9, 2008. Here In America (Part 1). I offered to share the cost, but she refused. So we enjoyed a beautiful night of conversation and good sleep thanks to a good stove. Meeting Cat and Greg was providential, I think. I sensed that Cat was a very special person. I wish I could share more about all that transpired, but my time limit at this Internet cafe is running out! Once in Lolo I stopped at a second hand shop and picked up some sweet 1960s Halmark candleholders...

Reflections of a Yahoo. Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Ultimate Workout- India 2008. Forgive the loooong delay. So much has happened I last wrote. I'll have to go back to retrace my steps. I'm in Kazakhstan now, substitute teaching at an English language institute for a week and a half. Wow! Gulliver: Landscapes

http://gulliveronline.blogspot.com/2008/04/landscapes.html

Reflections of a Yahoo. Thursday, April 3, 2008. I had a lot of hope for the Corinthian texts: "My strength is made perfect in weakness.," "God has chosen the weak things.," etc. I held to the old quip, "God does not call the qualified, but qualifies the called." Well, now that all of me is unstuck (tongue, hands, and feet,) something is still not quite right. Why am I still not conquering the world? Why am I still powerless over my gluttony? So, so fearful.) Why undisciplined? Oh, what am I thinking?

Gulliver: Hello Dalai Lama!

http://gulliveronline.blogspot.com/2008/04/hello-dalai-lama.html

Reflections of a Yahoo. Friday, April 4, 2008. Guess what, guess what? I am going to see the Dalai. I can hardly believe my good fortune on this one. The downstairs tenant in our house is a fabulous woman- so intuitive and kindhearted. We live on an Indian reservation, and Sheryl works part time at the tribal center where Native American artists have been busily beading, crocheting, and quilting quilts for the Dalai. Gulliver: Jealousy in the Spiritual Life

http://gulliveronline.blogspot.com/2008/03/jealosy-in-spiritual-life.html

Reflections of a Yahoo. Sunday, March 30, 2008. Jealousy in the Spiritual Life. For the last few days I have been experiencing a strange emotion. Its a Kolkata. Feeling. Its jealousy. Christian stance for many years, and as time went on it seemed that doubt would never let me love as freely as I once had. After all, the Person I once loved had become a Mystery. How do you love Mystery? After learning of Mother Teresa's spiritual darkness during my third year in college, I set out for Kolkata. To explore ...

Sunday, January 19, 2014. I am so very excited to finally show you what Dan and I have been so busily working on for the past few weeks. A seed of an idea for a fresh new Logo and new look for my pattern covers has been in my mind for a long time and after many hours of drawing, planning and a few heated moments :) we are finally ready to reveal all. This is my first design for 2014. 'Rabbit's Garden'. These will be added in the next little while also. Or my Facebook page. Thursday, September 13, 2012.

Under the Mediterranean Sun. Monday, September 8, 2014. Under the Mercy

Catharine's thoughts on … just about anything. April 8th, 2013. Thursday, 24 Jan ‘13, 2:39 am. Will you speak to me, Jesus? I need to hear your voice. The discord of my anxious thoughts. Wearies me beyond bearing. Will you talk with me. And calm the confusion of my mind? Will you speak gentle words. Of truth and simplicity? Or perhaps what I need is a lullaby,. A soft song of grace and forgiveness,. Of understanding and love,. So that peace drapes over me like a soft blanket. Will you sing to me, Jesus?

With Open Hands…. December 19, 2011 - 3 Responses. Thou hast struck a heavy blow at my pride, at the false god of self, and I lie in pieces before Thee. But Thou hast given me another master and lord, Thy Son, Jesus, and now my heart is turned towards holiness, my life speeds as an arrow from a bow towards complete obedience to Thee. Author unknown, from the book Valley of Vision. May the Lord separate me/us from the old rock where I/we have been embedded so long. With Open Hands,. The Temple of the Holy...

Focused wanderings with gentle smiles. November 19, 2008 in Greg Moore. The walk to the house on Broad St. Lit by a lamp against the stars. Points to a little square room. The last call of the quarter. The walk to the store on Broad St. Never more than a few feet. Gather the folk on the corner. With the small red lights, to pierce the dark. You were never a part of it. Sitting on the steps beneath the roses. Safe from the faces of brightness. Pulling with the void of shattered heart. Take heed that you d...

Under The Mesquite

Monday, January 18, 2016. N a famous speech during the dog days of World War II, Winston Churchill implored his people with the phrase “Never, never, never, never, never quit! According to many accounts, those 6 words constituted the entire speech. A little digging will tell you that’s not quite so, but it IS those 6 words that stood out. That summed up the essence of what needed to be heard in that environment, at that point in history. It was the right message, at the right time. Monday, January 4, 2016.
