Thoughts and reflections on my placement at Scottish Dance Theatre. Skip to primary content. 8216;START’ Archive. The Last of Things. March 5, 2012. Time is running out on my placement. I began to write this post at 02.16pm on the 28th of Febuary, meaning I have about 2 hours 15 minutes left today and 2 days next week, meaning I have just over 11 hours left on placement. In a nutshell, my maths is bad and I don’t have long left of my six month long placement. Where has it gone? As I have a lot to say abo...

Caroline Presents at Creative Scotland. December 13, 2011. Caroline spoke about the importance of mainstreaming. Through being part of a national company with a brilliant reputation disability performance has become inclusive, not a separate entity, not on the sidelines but embodied into the mainstream art form: reaching a bigger...

Visible Fictions and HM Polmont Young Offenders. The day went quite smoothly and it was very productive, however, after a few encounters with some individuals within the prison service staff I was left feeling quite disheartened. Some of the attitudes, language and behaviour of these individuals towards myself, the rest of the Visible Fictions team and especially the prisoners was very aggressive and I couldn’t help but think:. What now? | rosiereid

https://rosiereidplaced.wordpress.com/2012/04/27/what-now

I feel this is not the end of my placement in fact it has clearly just led me onto the next chapter, I have finished that part but I have only just started this book! And the book analogy works perfectly as my dissertation is what’s going to allow me to keep exploring these ideas: the role of an artist in a school, the relationship between an artist and teacher and also the idea of creating narratives in which the schools can sit in. The potential Theatre in Education has and specifically the potential o...

Monthly Archives: February 2012. This weekend I went to Edinburgh to the Forth Lodge where myself, Louise Brodie and Paul Gorman carried out a residential project working with a group of young refugees and asylum seekers from the Aberlour Youth point. The weekend involved workshops throughout the weekend and culminated in two site specific performances from the group. What I see in the picture? I see a supportive environment. I see a group of open and talented young people. I see a place away from Glasgo...

Monthly Archives: October 2011. In Creative Scotland’s ‘TEN YEAR VISION’, one hope is:. 8216;Scotland having the highest levels of participation in the arts in the UK with creativity reaching into every home.’. I don’t think that there could be a more important aim for the arts within this country. First things first. Read the play. I am very excited about the themes that have been brought up by the content in the play and the question- What makes someone a hero? Their ‘potential’ audience? Myself, Emma ...

https://rosiereidplaced.wordpress.com/2012/04/27/some-things-i-have-learnt-that-have-stuck-with-me-the-most

Some things i have learnt that have stuck with me the most…. I learnt that if I don’t use my voice then I won’t get anywhere. My advice to myself- don’t be shy about it, trust yourself, say it out and believe in it. Theatre in education is a field I am really interested in exploring once I graduate. When working with young people I should try and design it to get the participants in role- it can really help them commit to the drama I’m creating. You can’t write workshops behind a desk I need to be in a r...

‘Zorro’ at SYT | rosiereid

https://rosiereidplaced.wordpress.com/2012/04/23/zorro-at-syt

8216;Zorro’ at SYT. Although it is no ones fault it is making me question who the audience of Visible Fictions are, I mean the participants are made up of many people from all over Scotland, however, the audience does not seem to be. There is a lot of touring in the US and I worry that as a Scottish Theatre Company their work isn’t actually been. In Scotland. What is the function of Visible Fictions? What kind of art are they making? Who are they making it for? April 25, 2012 at 12:35 pm. Next post →.
