Upham Family Society Phineas Upham House. In 1775 three brothers left the comfort of their farm home at 255 Upham Street to answer the call by Paul Revere and other patriots. The three brothers, Amos, Ezra and William Upham left the Phineas Upham House in Melrose (then a part of Malden) and walked to the Bridge in Concord to meet the British regulars. The house was passed on through the generations and Asa Upham, great-grandson of Phineas Upham lived his life there and died on August 20, 1869. He was the last Upham to spend his entire life in the house. For sixteen years after the death of Asa Upham the house was unoccupied and fell into disrepair (between 1872-1888). The daughers of Orne Upham who were then the owners of the house, decided to repair it and then a number of improvements and stylistic upgrades were made. Before the 1915 Restoration.

A Brief History of the Phineas Upham House of 1703. This style house had a gable roof with the rear slope of the roof much longer than the front slope. This produced a shed-like appearance. There was usually one central chimney, simple windows small diamond shaped panes, a central entrance, and clapboard shingles. The Upham House was built in 1703 which was during the Colonial period in America between 1680-1820.Mark Rendall (Descendant of John Upham).
