Monday, July 1, 2013. Lake Powell has come and gone once more. This was a rough one not the fishing but the experience. Of the 20 individuals that were on the lake in our group, only 3 managed to avoid morphing into barfing werewolves. What ever demon visited us on the house boat was definitely a relation of the demon that wiped out whole civilizations in the past. Labels: carp on the fly. Stripers on the fly. Friday, January 10, 2014. Ecdysis of SheetRock and Stucco. It is now January. Cold, snowy, and frozen. Winter. Lakes, reservoirs and many sections of river are solid. It is difficult and sometimes painful to fish. But at the same time so, so worthwhile. Seasonal Affective Disorder is hard at it with the dark skies, the old dirty snow and the cold. Even getting out to shovel the drive way becomes a liberating ecdysis. Of sheetrock and stucco! Any "visible" fish gets my attention! Not too shocking, right?

Our home is not a winter friendly place for addicted fly fisherman.this winter was rough! The rivers here freeze solid throughout most their length, and the fish become very inactive. At one point we didn't fish for at least a month and a half. Luckily tying flies in preparation for the coming spring helped ease the madness that was being brought up by cold fishless days. Although it has begun to warm up here and fishing is finally picking up we have felt the need to get out of town!
