A Teacher's Education: April 2006

Friday, April 28, 2006. Random Thoughts (in no particular order). ALMOST there.I have just a few things left to do before I'm finished with the work I have to present and / or produce for completion of my Master's. I got, in an email from someone I almost never correspond with, yet ANOTHER confirmation that it was probably a good thing that I didn't get the job I so hoped I'd get after all. I can't believe it's almost over. Posted by Mrs. Chili at 9:32 AM. Monday, April 24, 2006. Anyway, we're starting t...

The Joy of Soup. Laquo; Drunken Crab Soup. Happy Easter To All My Peeps! St Patrick’s Day Soup. March 11, 2006 by Cripes Suzette. It’s St. Patrick’s Day and the idea of boiling up a giant stock pot full of corned beef and cabbage makes you blanch! Here is the answer: Corned Beef and Cabbage Soup. The same traditional ingredients, the same great taste, but shortened cook and prep time, less greasy, more economical and has an easily adjustable yield. CORNED BEEF AND CABBAGE SOUP. 5 In a saucepan, make a ro...

Tuesday, February 28, 2006. Settling In.Sort Of. You can't really tell in the picture of the kitchen-in-progress that I posted below, but I've already kinda-sorta started settling in. I'm looking forward to being able to see her every time I go to the sink. Posted by Mrs. Chili at 3:39 PM. My last post generated two requests for pictures. Here they are:. Friday, March 31, 2006. How's the Reading Going? So, I've got a bunch of you who've agreed to read Frankenstein with me. I can't even tell you how VERY excited I am about the prospect of having conversations about this book with grown-ups! Whenever you're ready, go ahead and comment. Questions, problems, discoveries, theories - I want them all. And thank you SO much for reading with me! Posted by Mrs. Chili at 5:26 PM. Remember that I turned my resume in a couple of weeks ago for a position in the school?

Tuesday, January 31, 2006. A Call for Prayers. This is Small One. We very nearly lost him a few Christmases ago due to a kidney infection that caused partial organ failure. I called the vet. At eleven o'clock at night. She heard his history, heard his symptoms, and told us to bring him in. Not first thing tomorrow. Now. Husband - kind, loving, insomniac Husband - is driving him to the clinic as I write this. Could you clear a spot in your prayers for my kitten, please? Posted by Mrs. Chili at 11:13 PM.

Thursday, March 30, 2006. Rejoining the Ranks of the Living. I can finally swallow without having to steel my nerve! I can be upright for more than five minutes without having to hold on to something because I'm too dizzy to stand! I can sleep at night! I haven't been that sick since I was a kid, and I hope it's a good long time before I have to be that sick again. I believe I'm done now. Posted by Mrs. Chili at 7:42 PM. Wednesday, March 29, 2006. At Least I Know I Can Still Smile. This shit is hysterical.
