With 5ºc at the car we thought we would be taking the rack and ropes for a walk. The walk-in was warmer than usual but we split into 2 teams both heading for Twisting. some gamesmanship had Murray and I arrive at the belay first leaving Gerry and George to go in search of something that looked "in". Like waving at the tree, stopping to look at the Buachaille has become a part of what we all do, so pulling into Jacksonville it was clear that Crowberry Gully. Would be in good nick. Plan changed - we walked the walk we have all done 1000 times. The pics say it all. and a wee movie from Murray here. M 07909 960 102.

Crowberry Gully is one of those routes that has loads of history and epics, Harold Raeburn, Murray and MacInnes and Co using "combined tactics" on the left hand variation. Its also a route that is seldom in condition due to its aspect and the fact it avalanches frequently, but with this long period of settled cold weather Craig and I knew it would be good-to-go. Before we headed down Coire Na Tulaich.

Alpine start saw us ahead of everyone on our way to do the North Buttress of the Bookle. We met our usual Royal Stag on the way, just beyond Bridge of Orchy - saw him last time too, so he must have a wee howff nearby. Glad we never saw a dead deer on the road on the way home tho. Desperately soft snow on the 1st pitch of the NE Z-Z. Ab'ing of the open book corner pitch.
