An Unexpected Life Choice. Saturday, June 26, 2010. I just found this artist that creates sculptures of animals using bone, some real and some fake, and brass/antique hardwares. Her work combines mom's ceramic figures and dad's taxidermy animals in a way that is breathtaking. Not only do the animals have many various parts all attached in different ways but some of them even have mechanisms in them so their heads, mouths, tails or body can be put in different positions. An Unexpected Life Choice. Monday, June 6, 2011. Today I wanted to make a couple rock chairs with Vinnie but he had to work so I decided to go up to Hairpin Turn and put up an installation piece. I sorted my colored muslin strips into the basic colors. I was going to lay them on the ground in rainbow order or put them in piles. That is until I saw this bandana tied on the fence. The Stone Chairs is a series of sculptures my fellow artist, Vinnie Gravanda, and I are making this summer. This is the first of the many installments of the sculptures. It is made of rock and some mud. They are inspired by Andy Goldsworthy's giant stone eggs as well as some other artists that I have mentioned before in my blog. I like making sculptures out of things that aren't very ordinary so when I saw these two sculptors I was really intrigued.
