Greasy Temples: July 2012
http://www.greasytemples.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Without the center link, the wheels will go in opposite directions so the wheel dollies make it much easier to move the car around. The car was surprisingly easy to move. It only took two of us (well, I wasnt really pushing that hard). The new car was being converted to bags, so its missing the leaf springs and the axle has brackets welded on. It was an easy. I'm going to send the leaf springs and drums over to BD&G Sandbasting. Links to this post. Sunday, July 8, 2012. The engi...

Greasy Temples: April 2012
http://www.greasytemples.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 15, 2012. Spent about 2 hours removing the trim from the interior. Doesn't look like much when its in a pile, but look how many screws there are! Links to this post. Saturday, April 14, 2012. I'm sure that I wont be doing most of the body work, but I think I might be able to handle a few things. Namely the floor pans. In preparation for this, I thought I'd learn how to weld. I asked one of our guys at the shop to show me how. I started with aluminum since that's the hardest :). The 25,243 o...

Greasy Temples: Engine Bay Wiring
http://www.greasytemples.com/2013/03/engine-bay-wiring.html
Sunday, March 10, 2013. I've been working on cleaning up and repairing all of the wiring in the engine bay. Based on the looks of the original wiring, I assumed it would be a total PITA. Turns out most of the wiring was in great shape, it was just really dirty and the fabric wrap was toast. I removed all of the wrapping and continuity tested every wire while watching the Daytona 500 :). I got the bulk of it done and back in the car. I'll finish it once the engine is back in. http://www.greasytemples.com/2012/10/trunk-repair-continues.html
Sunday, October 7, 2012. Started the weekend thinking I was going to weld in some patches. Figured I start on the driver side trunk since it was in better shape than the passenger side. I ripped up the seam sealer that was holding a piece of sheet metal in. Didnt like what I saw. New/old piece fitted, ready to weld. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Greasy Temples: March 2011
http://www.greasytemples.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Its Not Brain Surgery. What if the 48 year old cast exhaust manifolds crack and the engine falls? Do I take the transmission out with the engine? What if the transmission falls off the jack? Add a bad head cold to all of this doubt, not fun. I finally got all the right bolts and the right size chain today. Had everything I could think of needing laid out and within arms reach. Hooked up the engine to the hoist and with few pumps it was free! Links to this post. I soaked the sha...

Greasy Temples: Rear Suspension is In
http://www.greasytemples.com/2013/02/rear-suspension-is-in.html
Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Rear Suspension is In. Put the rear suspension with 2" lowering blocks in about a month ago. The blocks I used are billet adjustable 2" blocks from Speedway Motors. The alignment pin was too small, so I bought some aluminum spacers from McMaster for $8/each. They aren't exact, but if you will be welding the spacers in place the ID difference isn't that big of deal (fyi, the pin on the block is 5/8", the spacer ID is 3/4"). I bought the U-bolts from Fat Bob's Garage.

Greasy Temples: May 2011

Friday, May 27, 2011. Small Victory Comes With Minor Set Back. With the oil pan, timing cover, power steering pump and oil filter installed, I was finally ready to fill the engine up with oil and prime the oil pump. I wanted make sure the new pump worked and that the heads would be oiled as they should. I picked up a 1/4" Ford oil pump priming tool from Autozone. Three lifters, so I wanted to be safe.
