My blogsite from seminary closed, so I've moved those old posts here (as an archive). I'm not adding to this site any longer. Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Not Planning A Wedding. So the last few days, if judged by our expectations, would have to be deemed a failure. We had intended to go down to Carrie’s parents and spend three full days of wedding planning so that Christmas with each family could be wedding-planning free! It was a well thought out plan. Even during the meetings through which I sat the students would ask permission about everything. I think about groups that have wanted to have leadership in the past. Women never asked permission to have a division of their own in the church, but when given boundaries and limits they pressed against them. I am husband to Carri...

My blogsite from seminary closed, so I've moved those old posts here (as an archive). I'm not adding to this site any longer. Thursday, September 4, 2008. I’ve been watching the Republican National Convention and I’m startled by the contrast between it and the Democratic National Convention. How about ‘importing’ some ideas from countries with better economies, schools, and longer life expectancy than the United States? There is an idea to laugh at. Looking at the camera pans back-and-forth, here is what...

Isn’t this like God’s promises? God promises us love. God promises us life. God promises us faithfulness. Northminster remained faithful to its promise and so does God hold faithful the promises that she makes. The family that was lined up, from what I understand, became nervous about this new program. Perhaps ...Every time I thin...

An Open Table: Pork with Rhubarb and Red Onions
http://anopentable.blogspot.com/2012/05/pork-with-rhubarb-and-red-onions.html
Open to fruits, veggies, new things.and you! Scott and Carrie's Musings. Sunday, May 20, 2012. Pork with Rhubarb and Red Onions. I think rhubarb is one of the greatest things ever. Growing up I always loved spring and the rhubarb sauce mom would make for dinner. It was like stringy pink heaven in a dish! This spring I was determined to try rhubarb in a new way, in a savory dish. We all love rhubarb pies and crisps, but why not as part of the main dish? 5 stalks rhubarb, cut in 1 in long sections. To serv...

An Open Table: April 2012
http://anopentable.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Open to fruits, veggies, new things.and you! Scott and Carrie's Musings. Thursday, April 26, 2012. I didnt much care for radishes as a kid. The seemed to be just another raw vegetable, yet lacked the sweetness of carrots. Since then my feelings have changed. I still think that theyre just okay by themselves. Then I had them as an appetizer, sliced and served with butter and sliced baguette- perfection! Shortly there after, I saw a recipe for roasted radishes- well why not? Carolyn Marie Berry Carnes.
