We are a self-help group of blind and Vision Impaired people in the Leigh area; we are located in the centre of Leigh and serve Leigh and the surrounding districts. Leigh Vision Impaired Self Help Group. Some Registered Blind People will be able to claim the Higher rate Mobility componenet of Disability Living Allowance. However you will have to claim it! There is no automatic increase as you have to meet certain criteria. DLA is to be replaced by PIPS. PIPS means Personal Independence Plan. Many Vision Impaired people will no longer qualify for the benefit. The RNIB is currently running a campaign. Against this unfair change.
