Brae is only a short distance away and supplies of bread and milk and groceries may be obtained locally. Amenities include the local COOP. The Brae garage shop, Brae Building Centre. Health centre, Post Office, Garages, Police station. For eating out there are a few establishments close at hand, Mid Brae Inn , Busta House Hotel. Brae Hotel, Raba Indian take-away. And Frankies Fish and Chip shop. Voxter is 10 minutes drive from ferry terminals. To the northern Isles of Yell, Unst and Fetlar.

Many organisations have worked with schools at Voxter for day or residential trips including Active Schools. Contact these groups for help with ideas. Voxter is a great place for team building exercises. using the burns, beaches, hillsides , woods and gardens. This old Manse is nestled in the valley at Voxter and has its own grounds. Surrounded by farmland and rolling hills, a small dense wooded forest and a shallow inlet from the sea. It is an ideal spot for exploring the shetland environment and for many outdoor activities. Outdoor Centre was bequeathed to the Shetland people by its last owner Robbie Hughson.
