On the application of “learned lessons” | WaddlingDragon
https://waddlingdragon.wordpress.com/2012/06/21/on-the-application-of-learned-lessons-5
Here there be dragons… and pie. On the application of “learned lessons”. June 21, 2012. Over the course of many past failed projects, I’ve learned some lessons. Without boring people with a list (ok, actually I’m too lazy) I’ll say that one of these lessons has recently become relevant. So I’ve got to refactor it. For monsters too. I could ignore this, keep my “working system” working and move on. But I’ve learned the hard way that this leads to ruin. Posted in game design. June 21, 2012 at 10:47 am.

Here there be dragons… and pie. Forge of Legends: Post Mortem. February 10, 2014. It has been quite some time since the last update was posted on the Forge of Legends project. I am finally able to share some information. In the time since I last posted, the single largest factor in delaying work on the game is that I have moved my family twice. Selling and buying a home turned out to be a bit more than I bargained for. Moving twice even more so. I totally stopped coding work during this period. 8212; I t...

Here there be dragons… and pie. November 14, 2012. A shame I have not posted more. I have a few tidbits, none of which are worthy of a post individually. First, RPGWatch is my new best friend! They have agreed to post regular news articles on my current project. Check out the first one here:. Http:/ www.rpgwatch.com/show/article? Second, I spent considerable time this year editing a book on API design. It is now finished and can be purchased here:. 2 Responses to “Various short updates”. You are commenti...

Here there be dragons… and pie. April 10, 2012. In my last post, which was a bit of an eye-chart, I alluded to the pain involved in doing things the wrong way. Lessons learned, was the point. Here are some of the fruits of those lessons! In my current game project, “Forge of Legends,” I have needed to do each of the following:. Find a path through a dungeon. Determine what a player or monster can see. Get all the integer points within an area. It turns out the key to this problem is also the perfect solu...

Granted because I choose this I am playing a “worse deck” objectively, but I have taken high places at several tournaments with “worse decks” just because I knew how to play them well, and the other guy had no idea how to respond. And this highlights something that I was severely lacking: knowledge of what other people would...

I have had a repeated requested from someone to provide an explanation of the Pathfinder grappling rules. They are derived from the 3.5 grapple rules, which are well-known. To be a little difficult. I think Pathfinder cleans it up a little bit, but there’s still several paragraphs. Let’s talk about something possibly more interesting: Why use grapple? Try to take over the grapple...

So, how about another table? Maybe Also, Con is only given extra use by the Barbarian. So, all three of the “physical ability scores” are pretty much ignored in here. Most of the classes are all about finding new uses for the “mental ability scores”. Posted on April 5, 2012, in Pathfinder System. Larr; A look at classes. Hmmm…w...

Skip to main content. Skip to primary sidebar. Skip to secondary sidebar. Listen to the game. Larr; Magic Tourney! Sword vs Fang →. Chassis expansion, plus spells. Chassis – Proficiencies. To start out, I’ve added a few columns to the leftmost area, which I consider the ‘chassis’ section. I keep on running into more things that seem to fit there and follow regular patterns, and so I’ve now added weapon, armor, and shield proficiency columns. And they get TOWER SHIELDS, nobody else gets that for free!

What do you do when something you enjoy and are passionate about has become harmful to you? What do you do when you realize you’re addicted to the game? How could that hurt someone? I’m not ta...
