My heart may have broken a little bit just then…. I wasn’t sure if I was imagining things, though, so on Halloween, I decided to let him have at it with the treats at our Mom’s Club party. I thought, what could it hurt for him to have these foods just every once in a while? Why can’t he be a typical kid, just once every few months? Http:/ beyond...

Wading Through Alphabet Soup. My journey in homeschooling my son with TS, ADHD, OCD, GAD, and much more. Laquo; My heart may have broken a little bit just then…. It’s been one year…. M and I had the opportunity to attend Tourette Syndrome camp last month. For M, it was the chance to be around other kids who are similar to him in many ways. What Tourettes Has Taught Me: August 2014

http://whattouretteshastaughtme.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

What Tourettes Has Taught Me. Monday, August 25, 2014. So this is coprolalia. We shall see where this latest tic brings us. We're working on replacement words, hoping these will help him for now. In the meantime, prayers are greatly appreciated! Friday, August 8, 2014. I mentioned recently that Tourette Syndrome isn't for wimps. Yesterday, I tried waking all the kids up for school. Angel Baby and Little Man both got around for school (rather grudgingly, I might add, due to the lack of sleep they'd re...

What Tourettes Has Taught Me: October 2012

http://whattouretteshastaughtme.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

What Tourettes Has Taught Me. Wednesday, October 3, 2012. I just realized that I never did update and tell everyone how Camp Twitch and Shout's family camp went. I apologize for not doing so sooner. The camp weekend was filled with activity! Dodgeball, kayaking, archery, wall climbing. There were so many great activities that we all got to enjoy. Meal times were great, and they were often followed by dancing while the kids got to dress up in different costumes. Camp Twitch and Shout. Click Here to Donate.

What Tourettes Has Taught Me. Friday, August 8, 2014. I mentioned recently that Tourette Syndrome isn't for wimps. I didn't know when I wrote that article that Monster Man's TS would only get worse from the punching tic he'd developed that was hurting him so badly. It's amazing how fast things can change. He ended up missing school. Instead, he had a visit to his neurologist for a change in his medications. He started improving a little throughout the day, but never really stopped (it's a rare oc...I am ...

What Tourettes Has Taught Me: Sometimes Tics Can Be Mistaken

http://whattouretteshastaughtme.blogspot.com/2015/02/sometimes-tics-can-be-mistaken.html

What Tourettes Has Taught Me. Monday, February 9, 2015. Sometimes Tics Can Be Mistaken. The skin-picking isn't the only tic that was mistaken for something else. She often rubs her nose, clears her throat, and sniffs, again often figured to be related to her allergies. When it continued despite the absence of other allergy symptoms, it was easier to realize it wasn't allergy-related after all. August 31, 2016 at 3:52 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://whattouretteshastaughtme.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

What Tourettes Has Taught Me. Thursday, January 1, 2015. It's sad to know just how many kids with Tourette Syndrome deal with bullying on a daily basis. Most of the time, it comes in the form of verbal bullying - nasty comments, name calling, and other verbal attacks that the ticcer faces, most often due to ignorance about the disability. Even worse are the physical attacks that those with TS (and other disabilities) can also face. To make matters worse, he has been punished for his disability by teacher...

What Tourettes Has Taught Me. Thursday, January 24, 2013. It's been a while. I know that it has been a while since I've updated here. The truth is, there hasn't been a whole lot to report. When it comes to a child with TS, that's definitely a good thing! Interestingly, the rage improved drastically, but the tics seemed to explode! It's so nice to see him happy again! Wading Through Fields

Thursday, May 3, 2012. Last week on the very last day of April we had snow! Funny to think that in March we had temperatures well above 20*C. The snow did not last very long and was gone by the end of the day. The weather has been more Spring-like since then, which I am enjoy since I don't love the Summer heat as many people do. Last month Jason and I had a wonderful date day. It began with a trip to the National Art Gallery. Where we really enjoyed the art installation: The Clock. A very enjoyable day!
