Dog 1 – Toy 0. Living with a dog. September 7, 2013. First toy down only 20min in the crate with Tilley and the toy had more of its inside on the outside, well at least it wasn’t our shoes. Tilley training: a very accidental experience of harsh training methods. - woofy@woollypigs.com

Tilley training: a very accidental experience of harsh training methods. Embsay Dog Training Club. October 3, 2013. A couple of updates to this post:. We were hoping that by getting her to doggy school, she could meet other people and dogs and hopefully would calm down and get used to new things without going bonkers. I took her to the first class at Embsay Dog Training Club. While feeding her treats and telling her off with a sterner “shhhh” than before she calmed down enough to sit/lie down...We got ca...

2nd birthday walk - woofy@woollypigs.com
http://woofy.woollypigs.com/2015/02/2nd-birthday-walk
Living with a dog. February 2, 2015. We celebrated Tilley’s second birthday, well the date we picked since we don’t know the real date, with a little walk to Wycoller. On the Ferndean way which makes a nice four mile loop. It is a bonus walk for us all :. 8211; We get to see Tilley’s favourite person, Mum, so plenty of cuddles for her and cups of tea for us. 8211; She gets to run loose: there is a nice enclosed area, which is nicely away from busy roads and surrounded with fields. Gotcha day mark two.

Day nine in the dog house - woofy@woollypigs.com
http://woofy.woollypigs.com/2013/09/day-nine-dog-house
Day nine in the dog house. Living with a dog. September 15, 2013. To get to this point! The bin men came and went without any noise from Tilley, we even had someone knock on the door and she didn’t bark. Though when the postman did his drop she had something to say. Dogs never change! It also exhausts her and she tends to have a good long nap after food. Sorry for the lack of photos and quality, just got so into it that I forgot and when remembered only had a phone camera at a hand. She gets training wal...

First bath and working day. Living with a dog. September 10, 2013. Tilley was smelling rather like the bad end of a smelly thing, the second time we saw her she had poo stuck in her fur. We had planned to leave her smelly for a few days to keep the trauma to a minimum. But since she was so relaxed and not really bothered with what we did to her we decided to something with her smell. Sticks and stones: Tilley’s elbow dysplasia - woofy@woollypigs.com
http://woofy.woollypigs.com/2013/12/sticks-stones-tilleys-elbow-dysplasia
Sticks and stones: Tilley’s elbow dysplasia. Sick as a dog. December 10, 2013. A couple of months ago, we noticed that Tilley was limping badly especially after a long walk or a long sleep. She would struggle to get up from her bed and then wobble quite noticeably for a while. She would also throw her elbow out on her right front leg while walking. We are very thankful, firstly that we’re in a position to help her as much as we can, and secondly that we took out decent Lifetime cover PetPlan insura...

Quinn the foster dog - woofy@woollypigs.com
http://woofy.woollypigs.com/2015/01/quinn-foster-dog
Quinn the foster dog. Tags: Aireworth dogs in need. January 18, 2015. The dog formally known as Pepe Le Pew, Exodus and Rusty, but now known as Quinn arrived yesterday for some TLC after having a rough life so far. This gentle soul is about one year old and a good half his supposed weight. He hoovered down the food we gave him, even by hand. He has a very soft mouth – that is if you don’t mind slobber! But we’re feeding him little and often, just to get his tummy used to food again. We think the poor lad...

This post is a bit crap. Living with a dog. Tags: Bag It Bin It. June 13, 2014. I grew up in the 70’s (yes I’m that old) and into the 80s and 90s there was a dog close at hand. Back then I, and other dog owners, never really spend much time picking up their deposits. The general rule was leave it where it fell, though if you were kind at heart and it was a hard deposit you would gently nudge it into the gutter. Not picking up after your dog is right up there with RLJ – Red Light Jumpers, cyclist wh...

Review: Arden Grange Puppy Junior dog food - woofy@woollypigs.com
http://woofy.woollypigs.com/2013/11/review-arden-grange-puppy-junior
Review: Arden Grange Puppy Junior dog food. Living with a dog. November 17, 2013. We adopted Tilley from the Dog’s Trust. Her “deposits” of a good consistency. We did some research into Arden Grange Puppy Junior dog food – which we’d never heard of before getting Tilley – and realised that it is a high-quality brand, which scores a better-than-average 3.4 out of 5 on whichdogfood.co.uk. It’s good to know that a lot of rescue dogs are benefiting from a high quality food while in kennels! And milk bottles ...

The T-shirt of shame - woofy@woollypigs.com
http://woofy.woollypigs.com/2013/09/t-shirt-of-shame
The T-shirt of shame. Sick as a dog. September 16, 2013. Over the last few days Tilley’s spay scar started to play up. It was looking good the first few days we had her and she didn’t mind us touching her belly or even the scar itself. But, this morning, an area of her scar had swollen up quite badly and she showed slight discomfort when we touched it. The vet suggested either a Cone of ShameTM or t-shirt to stop Tilley from licking or otherwise messing with the wound. We settled for the t-shirt sinc...
