Honoring grief and embracing life. Skip to primary content. Now, it’s been almost 6 months since her passing, which is absolutely impossible for me to believe. Not a day goes by where she is not dancing through my mind. But something simple, or perhaps, not so simple, has shifted. I was finally able to reach for my hoop again, and move with it, free from the burdens that it had come to carry during those devastating months. While she is dancing up in Heaven, I will be dancing here on Earth.

Low-Maintenance Parenting | Mostly Mindful Mama

Sometimes Patient, Often Present, Always Real. Skip to primary content. Thing 1 and Thing 2. May 26, 2012. Knowing this bit of history, one can imagine how I might travel on day trips with my kids. Today I decided to whisk my daughter off to the beach. Word here I didn’t want to dawdle and organize I just wanted to go! It’s all about the food! Clearly, I had found my beach buddy for the day. I expected the beach to be kind of cool; I don’t know why I made this assumption, but in my haste I hadn’t bothere...

Out of Balance | Mostly Mindful Mama

https://mostlymindfulmama.wordpress.com/2012/07/05/out-of-balance

Sometimes Patient, Often Present, Always Real. Skip to primary content. Thing 1 and Thing 2. July 5, 2012. Many mothers find themselves highly out of balance when it comes to giving of themselves. We feel compelled to give, most times we love to give, but eventually we need to get on the receiving end. Mothers tend to feel guilty about this, but this guilt is entirely misplaced. I sure don’t! I’m convinced that there is a direct correlation between the amount of respect kids have for their parents ...

An Extraordinary Life | Mostly Mindful Mama

https://mostlymindfulmama.wordpress.com/2012/04/04/499

Sometimes Patient, Often Present, Always Real. Skip to primary content. Thing 1 and Thing 2. April 4, 2012. Finished re-watching a fantastic video sent to me by a like-minded friend. This video clip is of a speaker named, Brene Brown, who researches topics such as vulnerability and shame, among other things. This quest to find the extraordinary is often expressed in our need to stay busy; somehow we seem to think that being perpetually busy means that we’re important, dare I say, extraordinary! And how i...

Misconceptions about the Stay-at-Home Mom | Mostly Mindful Mama

Sometimes Patient, Often Present, Always Real. Skip to primary content. Thing 1 and Thing 2. Misconceptions about the Stay-at-Home Mom. February 2, 2012. I have found that there are many misconceptions about mothers, especially when it comes to the stay-at-home variety. One question we often get, and hate immensely, is… “So, what do you. 8221; Just thinking about that question makes my blood boil, because anyone who has to ask clearly has no idea what the job entails. Sometimes Patient, Often Present, Always Real. Skip to primary content. Thing 1 and Thing 2. May 1, 2012. I shared my feelings with her and her response truly moved me. I wish I could remember exactly what she said, but the basic message was this… She said that she had no illusions of her kids being “hers”. She went on to say, that it is her job to guide her children and protect their well-being, but ultimately they are their own people who need to have their own experiences. On Children Kahlil Gibran.

Walking In My Destiny, | Living A Life Of Purpose...

Walking In My Destiny,. Living A Life Of Purpose…. January 21, 2016. I love walking. Apparently, it is one of the best forms of physical exercise. Walking for 30 60 minutes a day, five days a week reduces the chances of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, anxiety and depression. It can increase life expectancy too. They didn’t just sit, kneel or stand with God (the kind of actions we would often associate with spending time with God), but they were also in communion with God when doing something else. Walk ...
