Walking the Water Way 2: September 2013
http://walkingthewaterway2.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Walking the Water Way 2. Together seeking to follow the way of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Saturday, September 28, 2013. In between the first step up and the home-made soup. Yesterday was a hiking day on the section of the A.T. that climbs "southbound" out of Duncannon over Cove Mountain, descending to Miller's Gap Rd. It was a very slow 8.5 miles. Come, my Way. As I am picking my way among the rocks and white blazes, occasionally wandering from the path. My Truth, my Life:. The need for food, water...

Walking the Water Way 2: Words on Christmas

Walking the Water Way 2. Together seeking to follow the way of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Wednesday, December 25, 2013. Do you remember chemistry labs? The labs where you would mix things together and watch what would happen? One of my favorite authors, Madeline L’Engle, goes from chemistry class to Bethlehem in the following poem entitled: “The Bethlehem Explosion.” ( A Cry Like a Bell. Crosswicks, 1987.). The chemistry lab at school. Was in an old greenhouse. Surrounded by ancient live oaks.

Walking the Water Way 2: August 2013

Walking the Water Way 2. Together seeking to follow the way of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Saturday, August 17, 2013. This may be a spoiler. I have just finished reading a well-crafted collection of six short stories that I wish I had read 25 years ago. The Wild Birds. And I'm back of you because Jack Beechum is, and because he's back of me, along with some others. It's no use for you to want to make it on your own, because you can't. .[When] you quit living in the price and start living...That's th...

Walking the Water Way 2: January 2014
http://walkingthewaterway2.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Walking the Water Way 2. Together seeking to follow the way of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Sunday, January 19, 2014. Perspectives on an arctic vortex and rock pigeon. My perspective was also changed that same week by a book I was reading, Consider the Birds. A Provocative Guide to Birds of the Bible. By Debbie Blue. Don’t be deceived by the rather ordinary title; because of this book, I will never hear the story of Jesus’ baptism in the same way again. Well, a small, white, beautiful bird, right?

Walking the Water Way 2: October 2013
http://walkingthewaterway2.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Walking the Water Way 2. Together seeking to follow the way of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Tuesday, October 22, 2013. On meeting a black snake. Yes, I have been out day hiking on the AT again. Three times, actually, because I've had the luxury of a full week of vacation. The Psalms are well known for moving from the subject of creation and its Creator to the dilemmas of humanity. I am going to make the same shift. In my last post here. What might that look like practically speaking? I am appalled by...

Walking the Water Way 2: The blaming game
http://walkingthewaterway2.blogspot.com/2014/03/the-blaming-game.html
Walking the Water Way 2. Together seeking to follow the way of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Sunday, March 30, 2014. Jesus does not play the blame game, but I do. I blame the icy cold winter for my lack of exercise since, well, since December. Never mind that it is my own responsibility how I use my body. Never mind that winter is only doing what an orbiting, tilting planet requires of itself. I blame winter, this one in particular, for my lack of walking. Instead you see with your feet and hands....

Walking the Water Way 2: February 2014

Walking the Water Way 2. Together seeking to follow the way of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Friday, February 7, 2014. I haven't posted for awhile because it has felt like there has not been not much to say. I have been dog paddling through administrative details: emails, connections, phone calls, written communications, calendar checking, ordering, planning, forms, surveys, hosting arrangements, thank yous. What is interesting to say about all that? Why all this fluster and bluster? But I'm wrong....

Walking the Water Way 2: November 2013

Walking the Water Way 2. Together seeking to follow the way of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Saturday, November 23, 2013. Rebuilding Humility on the Jersey Shore. In the last few blog posts I have been thinking about humility, the lack of it in our culture and in ourselves, the importance of it when we find it. Granted, humility is not the most popular topic to write about, but here's one more thing to say about it. Primarily as a learner. This is where the humility part comes in. For four of ...You m...
