travel day | walking to joy

https://walkingtojoy.wordpress.com/2010/08/01/travel-day

A note on editing. Home to wisconsin →. August 1, 2010 · 9:24 am. The beginning of Rick Price's mural. Yesterday we drove from our home in the Hudson Valley to Youngstown, Ohio. Before we could do that we had to pack the car of course. We had not done a stitch of packing and so it was a long day of listening to Q say “when are we going to leave? 8221; To which I would answer “I have no idea.”. A very lovely start to our visit to family and friends in the Midwest. Nothing like beginnings is there? Your po...

A note on editing. Travel day →. July 30, 2010 · 10:31 am. First week of camp. This is what summer means to me. There is a number. And still we pack. Short, t-shirts, don’t forget long sleaves for the the cool nights and the bug bites. We drive for the first time ever so now too, there are the books on tape and the maps and the motel reservation numbers. Showing me his painting the last week of camp. Running where he knows each blade of grass. 8221; says Ms. L and we all start walking back toward the...

A note on editing. Three months down →. August 5, 2010 · 11:53 am. Sarah on her 17th birthday. Year after year, we return. The family. Two cabins. Nine families. Next year when Katie gets married it will be ten families. We come from all over the country to sit on the same piers. On the same lake. Sleep in the cabin my uncle built back in the 1930’s. Lake Geneva Library - one of my favorites. Year after year, my mom, Q and I, stop by the same library on the lake. What if next year it was gone. What if it...

A note on editing. The number →. July 25, 2010 · 1:14 pm. Where IS the best place to skinny dip around here (there’s a ledge just under the water fall.) Summer, my friend, I am so happy you are here. Don’t listen to the whining. Ignore the hum of the air conditioners. You have your fans dear Summer and I am most definitely one of them. Just arrived waiting for Y to cross over the water bridge. The view from the studio to the house. Q, J and E throwing pebbles into the pond and no one tells them to stop.

Bread and Honey: January 2012

http://breadandhoney-barbara.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 25, 2012. One of the things I wish I had known when I brought my children home from Ethiopia is that speical events would be a major trigger for our kids for the first year they were home. A special event is something out of routine: any holiday or event or celebration that people get excited about or put time into preparing for or talk about ahead of time. I first clued into this when it was time for school photos. No big deal, right? Links to this post. Wednesday, January 18, 2012.

Bread and Honey: February 2013

http://breadandhoney-barbara.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 15, 2013. I just found this post in my draft folder. Not sure why I didn't post it when I wrote it in 2009, about a month after our trip to Ethiopia to pick up the kids. Makes me want to go back to Addis. My friend, Liz, writes a great blog about her quest for fitness. She loves the theater. She has taken her frustration about her body and made her quest for healthy self-love and self-care into a performance. I love her writing. This entry. Is about living within our means. So much of wh...

Sunday, February 3, 2013. The Secret of the Five-day Vacation. I have discovered a low-investment/high-yield activity that could change your life. But, you could use it a little bit at a time and get a lot more bang for you buck. You can do that THREE or FOUR times a year with your precious vacation time. Get a real break from work, get some real play time with your family, and actually reduce your stress rather than increase it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Welcome to my kitchen table. Life with Three Diva's and a Dirt Magnet: September 2012

http://offtochinaoneday.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, 29 September 2012. Yes I mentioned the "C" word and its only September! But as we are still on a very tight budget, I've been trying to think of ideas to save money this year. And, probably due to my Pinterest addiction, I've decided to try and make as many presents as I can this year! I've got LOTS of ideas and plans, and just need to stop procrastinating and get on with it! I know I put things off because of a lack of confidence, but I really am going to try and get over this and GET STARTED!

Life with Three Diva's and a Dirt Magnet: January 2014

http://offtochinaoneday.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Sunday, 26 January 2014. When we got back Mum and Dad's neighbours were trying to get into their house, having locked themselves out, Mum had the genius idea of letting them climb through her loft into their own loft and gaining entry that way. It worked and they brought a bunch of flowers round later as a thank you :-). Saturday, 25 January 2014. And it was already way past her bedtime when we arrived! Thursday, 23 January 2014. This morning I met up with a couple of friends for early morning coffee (Di...

Life with Three Diva's and a Dirt Magnet: June 2012

http://offtochinaoneday.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, 28 June 2012. The BLEEPING cat woke me up last night, crashing about in my Craft Room, I had to go and shoo the annoying feline out of there. I had just got warm and comfy back in bed, when I heard another crash, followed by a smashing noise! What had the BLEEPING thing done now? On investigation I found a sheepish looking cat stood in the middle of the smashed remains of my lastest Pinspired Creation. An upcycled vase. I hadn't even had chance to take a photo of it, before it was destroyed!

Monday, April 29, 2013. Basket weaving by the seat of my trousers. Someone please fact check the link between this name and this quote.). Inspired in part by the above quote and this music. After spending a weekend sorting, organizing, and scanning 29 years of photos. On the occasion of the anniversary of my becoming a mother. My first poem in a long while. Basket weaving by the seat of my trousers. Life is a little easier. By the seat of his or her pants. Especially when we remember. Are a basket woven.

Walking To Jerusalem

Tom rejoined the group in NSWaS with his father, ready for the final triumphal progression into Jerusalem. He’d had a bit of a sneak-preview over the previous few days. They’d also been out to the Sea of Galilee, narrowly avoiding more Hezbollah rockets as they were in a deserted Tiberias the day it got hit for the first time, witnessing first hand the dislocation and chaos caused in Northern Israel. We reached the Jaffa gate just as the sun was setting and (after the obligatory photos). October 03, 2006.
