Art is the new religion. Wordssounds.shows.secrets.san francisco.nyc.austin.usa. It depressed me to come back to SF, isn't the sunny weather supposed to be uplifting? Nyla and I went to see HEART. Last night at the Mountain Winery. They rocked my socks off, just like last year, and I got to sit on the side of the stage! So I was about 2o feet from my idol, Nancy Wilson. Thanks to Brandon. And the guitar-slinging Anne McCue. For generously hooking me up. Baby (Craig Wedren's new band). The Life and Times.

Art is the new religion. Wordssounds.shows.secrets.san francisco.nyc.austin.usa. Back from the dead. Actually I've just been posting to my LiveJournal. I've been meaning to transfer this blog to TypePad but I can't seem to find the time. Oh, work. I just had to rave about Google IM. It works like any other IM, except if you have a microphone (I have one built into my laptop at work) you can call and talk to people live! You need a gmail account to join - let me know if you need an invitation.

Art is the new religion. Wordssounds.shows.secrets.san francisco.nyc.austin.usa. My friend Craig was in town last night and invited me to see a screening of "The Baxter" because he did the music for it. The movie was HILARIOUS, you should definitely go see it when it comes out (despite what Ebert and Roeper said). At the "afterparty" I was amazed to discover that comics attract more aggressive groupies than the musicians I know. I tried to get a shot. Check out the website. Amazing Grace: Jeff Buckley".

Art is the new religion. Wordssounds.shows.secrets.san francisco.nyc.austin.usa. Is there such a thing as too much live music? I'd say no, as long as you're up for some sleep deprivation. Last week I saw five shows, all of which were fantastic, four of which included good old friends from out of town performing. It was great to see Fil, JD (for two whole days) and Ian. I wish I could say Sufjan was my friend, or my suitor, but alas I've never met the chap.) The Knitters. The Modern Sounds of the Knitters.

Below the Radar: Best of Music
http://belowtheradar.blogspot.com/2004/12/best-of-music.html
Wednesday, December 01, 2004. Alright - so I guess it's time to roll out the lists. The music list at least. There are still about three or four movies that appear to have good chances of cracking my 2004 top ten, and I'm sure they are waiting with baited breath. In any case, here are my top ten albums of what seems to be the fastest year that has ever been lived by a Matt Lieberman. 1 The Arcade Fire. Out of the Shadows. Rejoicing in the Hands. Another new-folkie type guy that has been getting a lot of ...

Goodbye users and suckers, and steady bad-luckers." -Silver Jews. Tuesday, July 27, 2004. All I Ever Wanted. There’s no concentration at work, today. Not that I’m writing this at work. I’m going on vacation this week. A much-deserved, so- very. My knees and elbows will creak a little at first as I hike through the woods of New Hampshire, but I’ll explain to my companions that I’ve been living rusty-ol’-tin-woodsman style for the last six months, and then they’ll understand and pass me the oil can. I star...
