A Blog about bushwalking, Amateur Radio including Summits on the Air. Talbot Peak and Mt Saint Phillack 2014. After a BSAR search on Mt Bogong that involved a great deal of snow shoeing. I decided to head off myself to pick up this pair. I have previously activated them. I proceeded to the trig point at Talbot Peak and activated from there, using some closed cell foam to sit on the snow and a bothy shelter to keep me warm – indeed it does a good job of that. Operating at Talbot Peak. Near Mt St Gwinear.

As soon as the FT-817 was set up, my first contact on 40 metres was an S2S with Rod VK2TWR on VK2/ST-020 and then worked a steady stream of chasers until my last contact with Amanda VK3FQSO.
