Sunday, 23 November 2014. November 23 page 2. Too much to cover on one page! Our son Sean came and joined us for a day from Waiouru. It was lovely to see him. And he even brought food! We are now in Taumaranui and about to start the TA Trail part where we walk the 42nd Traverse tomorrow which should take us a couple of days then the Tongariro Crossing after that. 160; We met with an American chap up the mountain who had no cooker no warm food a light sleeping bag and only jeans to wear! Friday, 16 January 2015. Boyle Village to Arthurs Pass. After Hamner Springs we hitched back to Boyle Village and started our next leg to Arthurs Pass. We got a ride from a lovely local who took us all the way to Windy Point where our next leg started. He was a retired gentleman who just enjoyed our company and went out of his way to help us. Wednesday, 10 December 2014. After the weekend Sean and Kim both had Monday off so we all went out to the Manawatu Gorge and did a walk up through the bush to view the wind turbines up close. Was pretty impressive and not noisy at all. They then dropped us at the Tiratea Walkway in Palmerston North and we back on the Trail. We walked up through the valley and camped at a lovely picnic reserve called the Kahuterawa Reserve and lo and behold met up with Paul who we had done kayak trip with at Ngunguru!

Sunday, 11 January 2015. The next day was a long 33km day. The Queen Charlotte Track is beautiful but hard under foot so arrived Mistletoe Bay with sore feet. No complaints as we were much better off than Sam and Sean who made it in by 8pm tired sore hungry and thirsty. They must have downed 5 litres of powerade each back when they got in.
