Tommye McClure Scanlin artist and teacher tapestry and other things Dahlonega, GA, USA. Sunday, July 27, 2014. Back to stacking the stones after Convergence and ATA workshop. Now that I'm back in the studio I've gotten to work on the stones again. I still have the goal of finishing it by mid-September and I'm a few inches above the half-way point. I can do it- I can, I can! I'll post photos and comments about the ATA workshop soon. For now, here's where the stones are as I leave the studio tonight:.

Tommye McClure Scanlin artist and teacher tapestry and other things Dahlonega, GA, USA. Monday, August 31, 2015. I said I would and I did (think I've used that before as a post title.). Well, I'd said I hoped to finish the bloodroot tapestry by the end of August- and I DID! In fact, I finished weaving it and cut it off the loom a couple of days ago. Here's the finishing few clips as I cut it off the loom; my husband took the photo as I as snipping away:. This is the piece ready to have weft ends clipped.

Well, that's the way things are going around here. a little of this and a little of that. Loose ends are being tied up all around and new ones are beginning to show themselves. Here's a bit of what's going on. First, the April 2015 installment of this year's tapestry diary is complete:. And Amy's is here. And I recently contacted him to see if...

Tommye McClure Scanlin artist and teacher tapestry and other things Dahlonega, GA, USA. Saturday, May 30, 2015. Yes, May* is almost done. And so is my tapestry diary for the month. I've almost completed the last of the ginkgo leaves, my May month theme. Here's where I got to today:. Here's the way the back of my year looks, so far:. Lots of loose ends. Kind of like life, isn't it? Loose ends may really be connected to the whole of one's life. Just maybe needing to be tidied up occasionally. I did and beg...
Avalanche Looms: ashes, ashes
http://avalanchelooms.blogspot.com/2014/12/ashes-ashes.html
Friday, December 19, 2014. It's icy here, so I dumped the whole can full of wood ashes on my paths and the driveway, and then put it to the test. I didn't fall down and break my crown. I like my new, highly visible, lime-yellow down jacket. Happy winter solstice, and remember the ones who've left us. I light a candle for them in a. Mason jar, when the sun goes down, and put it in the frozen fern bed beside the sauna. Avalanche Looms / Susan Johnson. Needles all dangling down…what a funny image! I wove it...

Jam, pastries and yarn intermingle with pet hair. Sunday, May 4, 2014. I have finished a cardigan, a shawl and a pair of socks in the past week, and I am feeling pretty darn good about it! Today is supposed to be beautiful, but I need it to warm a little bit more before I get out there and garden. Might need one more cup of coffee and just a couple rows on the new sweater. What a lovely Sunday! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Brasstown, North Carolina, United States. View my complete profile.

Jam, pastries and yarn intermingle with pet hair. Monday, November 25, 2013. For the last two weeks, I've been. I've been making pies to taste, making pies to sell at the Tomato Head restaurants, making gluten free pies, vegan pies, chocolate pies, pumpkin pies, pecan pies. Pies have been my life, at work, anyway. But two weeks ago, some friends and I went to the Slow Foods Tennessee Valley Pie Contest. ( http:/ tuesdayweavers.blogspot.com/2013/11/a-little-pie-in-sky.html. A pie But no matter! In the end...

Jam, pastries and yarn intermingle with pet hair. Saturday, October 25, 2014. The first blanket done will go to my co-worker who is due in less than a month. She is still working just as hard as ever, and sometimes, we need to ask her to slow down a little, but she's getting tired at the end of the day. Sometimes, I just want to ask her to sit down! But she never would. The underside, in early morning sunlight. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Brasstown, North Carolina, United States. View my complete profile.

Thoughts and ideas on weaving and life. Monday, August 10, 2015. A Messenger is done. My son asked if I could make a messenger for him. I have never made this kind of design before, so my hands are shaking a bit. I made a simpel sketch and here we go. A combination af double-weave in cottolin and linen 16/2 and leather. Few months ago, I was lucky, somebody gave me a 16 shaft computer-loom, I want to use it for this project in double-plain-weave. I made a block pattern that will require 16 shaft. Yes, th...
