We're Not In Canton Anymore. Funny tales of life in a foreign city. Oh, the places we’ll go. When in Rome…. January 8, 2016. The end is near. Rome was our last stop on this wild ex-pat journey we embarked on two years ago. We had 24 hours to live out our final candy land adventure before boarding a plane to our new home in San Francisco. With a jam packed itinerary and eagerness to soak up as much of the city as possible, we loaded up the car and set out from Tuscany to Rome. On a sugar high, we wandered...

TDS Race Report | Athlete Reborn

Into the mind and life of Alex Ho. Laquo; TRT 100 Race Report. The cool mountain air filled my lungs as I walked around Chamonix 2 days before the race. The finish line arch was already up and runners from all around the world were strolling the street. Surrounded by beautiful mountains I couldn’t help but wonder what I had signed myself up for. The mountains from Courmayeur. If you look close, you can see the trail based on the line of people. Leaving the first Aid Station. View at the peak Col Chavannes.

Bon Voyage: Reykjavik, Iceland. Views of downtown Reykjavik from Hallgrímskirkja Church. After grabbing fresh waffles and coffee at Mokka Kaffi. We walked through the downtown area to the modern Hallgrímskirkja Church for some great views over the city. A stroll back through town and down to the waterfront led us to lunch at Saegreifinn. For amazing lobster soup and a sampling of grilled whale meat. Whale meat is not for me, but the soup was just what we needed to warm us up after a cold walk! In our pla...

Bon Voyage: Croatia & Montenegro. It’s hard to believe that it has been two months since we were lounging on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, enjoying the last days of my twenties in Dubrovnik. My how time flies! Croatia was an amazing place to visit, steeped in so much history, with great food and fantastic views. We also managed to convince my sister and her boyfriend to join us in Dubrovnik, which made the trip even more memorable and fun. View of Old Town from our apartment. View from our apartment.

Bon Voyage: Marrakech and Atlas Mountains, Morocco. Back in the fall, my mom and dad decided they wanted to take one more trip to see us before we moved back, but instead of coming to London, they wanted to meet somewhere new. It was going to be my 30th birthday present, as well as a birthday present for my dad. Woo hoo! Pulled by the promise of warm weather and sun, we persuaded Mom that Morocco would be the perfect spot for our family rendezvous. Koutoubia Mosque, Marrakech’s most famous symbol. On our...

Bon Voyage: Andalucia, Spain |
https://blimeyblog.wordpress.com/2015/05/31/bon-voyage-andalucia-spain
Bon Voyage: Andalucia, Spain. Ah, Andalucia, you will always hold a special place in my heart. I hadn’t been back to southern Spain since I studied abroad in Sevilla during college, and I really wanted to experience it all again with the Doc in tow. With its romantic cobblestoned streets, great food, and warm weather, it was the perfect place to celebrate our five-year anniversary. After an early morning flight out of London, we unloaded at our hotel and went straight for lunch at Eslava. Founded in 1670...

This is the blog for those of us who want less government in our lives and more freedom to succeed on our own. It's for those of us who understand the US Government cannot even run a lemonade stand, much less Wall Street. And it's also for those of us who understand that Wall Street can't run Wall Street either. Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Health Care - A Government Agency. When will they get it? Government is the source of all of these problems, not the solution. Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Please take not...

We're Not Gonna Take It
We're Not Gonna Take It! We're Not Gonna Take It. Is an interactive public art project that allows you to record your own protest songs using the telephone. You can create a song about issues you wish to protest (such as corporate globalism, your landlord's poor repair record, or bad produce at the supermarket). You record your song by using the telephone like a karaoke machine, singing along to rock music. Your personal protest song will then be delivered to the politicians of your choosing. Call the lo...

We're Not in Kansas Anymore
Wednesday, December 2, 2009. It's Been Too Long. Ok, so I started out this year with big intentions and lots of high aspirations for myself! A lot of them didn't end up happening. :) But isn't that the way it always is? So I end up coming to my blog daily but it's usually just to look at my other friends' blogs and never write on mine. I notice the last entry was in March. March? Where did this year go? To be honest, I have no idea. Too many things have seemed to slip away too quickly. Ok, so not too.

Tales from a Flyover State
Tales from a Flyover State. What it's like to be a Londoner amongst the cornfields of Kansas. Thursday, 8 September 2011. Friday, 19 August 2011. On being American versus being a Brit. I arrived here very definitely a Brit, with set ideas about what was good and bad (mostly, I have to confess, Britain=good, America=bad). I'm pleased to say I've chilled out a lot since then. Last night we watched a British film about a group of Muslims in Sheffield, called Four Lions. It was supposed to be a comedy (I thi...
