A career adventure of an Australian in Canada. Archive for June, 2009. On June 19, 2009 Leave a Comment. The final farewell was in the form of a surprise party. Just another WordPress.com weblog. Archive for March, 2009. Spring break: LA, Vegas and the Canyon. March 25, 2009. We’ve just returned from our spring break holiday to the U.S. Utilising the weekends on either side, the 9 day road trip took in four American states and 7000 Km! Having broken the back of the journey however, we had 5 good days to see the sights. Transormed into a memorial to America’s war dead, the beach was laid out like a cemetery with crosses representing the fallen. This dis...Heading...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Archive for November, 2008. November 29, 2008. One of the joys of living in Canada is being here to witness the Fall. Red maple: bedroom window. From mid October for several weeks the leaves are at their peak. And you don’t have to go very far to witness this spectacle. Yellow foliage, Smokey Smith Place. Take this sequence of shots for example. Their taken along the route Tim takes to school each morning. Yellow oak and bell tower. Looking into the yellow oak. The invi...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Archive for May, 2009. May 30, 2009. Nothing can really prepare you for life onboard a cruise ship. You could say it’s a bit like a floating 5 star hotel. This hotel had 12 levels. This elevator leaves reception reaching all the way to the the top. Is the main deck of the ship. All of us enjoyed the pool and spa, with warm spring weather for the duration of the cruise. The stairwell from the main deck leads to the outdoor Games area. And still more table tennis…. Childr...

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Archive for January, 2009. January 24, 2009. For New Year we decided to do something a bit different and stay at a youth hostel in downtown Vancouver. The city is surrounded by mtns and one of the attractions in winter is catching a shuttle bus to the Mtn tops for a spot of skiing. Youth hostel - Burrard St Bridge in background. The bus that eventually did come decided not to return to the hostel. This meant trapsing through snow and slush at midnight to another bus!

Just another WordPress.com weblog. Archive for February, 2009. We are all Canucks. February 11, 2009. This will long live in the memory – an evening at GM Place to see our local team, the Vancouver Canucks. We were blessed indeed to receive these tickets via a work colleague. I imagine one of the reason the tickets are so expensive is the limited capacity of indoor stadiums which hold on average about 20,000. In a city of 2.2 million these tickets are in high demand! One reason hopes were high of a Vanco...
