Pere Lachaise: Part 4. On that note, here are the last of my photos from Pere Lachaise. From a distance I thought this was a church, but it's a tomb. This avenue within Pere Lachaise is named in honour of foreign soldiers who died for France. This is a church within the cemetery. I would have liked to take more photos but there was a funeral just letting out and I felt bad enough intruding on them to take this. The grave of Honore de Balzac. I snapped this with my phone on the way out because the tiles a...

Whimsy Bower: Zen and the Art of Provencal Cookery, Part 5

http://www.whimsybower.blogspot.com/2015/07/zen-and-art-of-provencal-cookery-part-5.html

Zen and the Art of Provencal Cookery, Part 5. I thought these were shallots but they're actually a type of local onion. Swiss chard also went into the caillette but you can use spinach instead. The eggplant was for a different meal. The caillette filling was flavoured with fresh sage, which made it reminiscent of Thanksgiving. Ready for the oven. About 500 g pork- you want something that's boneless but still contains some fat (I think shoulder would probably work well). Small bunch fresh sage. Apples sau...

Whimsy Bower: Provence: Lavender

http://www.whimsybower.blogspot.com/2015/07/provence-lavender.html

By the way, if you do ever find yourself in Provence and want to take any special day trips (lavender fields, wineries, chocolate or olive oil tasting, historic sites.) I highly, highly recommend Provence Authentic. The fields we visited were in the Luberon region of Provence. The fields all bloom at different times from late June until August, so if you're planning a trip, do some research to find out which fields will be in bloom. This farm was called " La Savonnade. I'm not sure what kind of plant thi...

Whimsy Bower: Pere Lachaise: Part 3

http://www.whimsybower.blogspot.com/2015/07/pere-lachaise-part-3.html

Pere Lachaise: Part 3. Or something). When I travel, I want to be comfortable, so it was basically t-shirts, maxi skirts, and converse. The fact that I was mistaken for a Parisian still gives me a little thrill. I think it was my hat, a black Panama:. Never underestimate the power of a good hat. Felix Faure was the 7th President of France. Some pretty dianthus that seemed to be growing wild. Some tombs contain chairs or prayer stools for visitors. Next Post: Pere Lachaise Part 4. Pere Lachaise: Part 1.

Whimsy Bower: May 2015

http://www.whimsybower.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Thought I'd share my latest completed needlepoint project. I'm happy with how it turned out, although I think the colours ended up being a little too cool. Wraith steals the show. Nox was keeping us company too. He's sitting on the cat tree, enjoying the view out the window. And Shadow was just below, trying to nap in peace :). My next project is actually an old one- I've resumed working on the blanket. What projects are you working on? Share in the comments. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Click for a Cause.

Whimsy Bower: Pere Lachaise Part 1

http://www.whimsybower.blogspot.com/2015/07/pere-lachaise-part-1.html

Pere Lachaise Part 1. My time taking photos was cut short because my camera battery decided this was the trip to start having problems holding a charge (next time I'm bringing my telephoto lens and an extra battery). But I still ended up with too many photos for one post, so I'm breaking them into smaller parts. Enjoy :). I started from the Bd. Menilmontant entrance. Many of the tombs contain stained glass windows, although you usually have to peek inside to see them. A Notre Soeur Regrettee. Meant homew...

Daily dream dresses (& more! Thursday, April 3, 2014. WhimsyBride Faves: Amsale Sp2014. From our last Pnina Tornai post we dramatically change gears to Amsale's latest Spring 2014 collection. Simple, elegant, and understated is the idea here. I particularly love the use of silk magnolia, which is a fabric similar to dupioni with a lovely natural texture, and the use of organza for a bit of contrast. The simple lines of the gowns really let the fabric sing. 8230;…………. Sp2014 collection, style Allen. Strap...
