It was so refreshing to get away and hang out in colorado for 4 days. Check out the backdrop of this picture, it's so beautiful (it looks fake, right? Here we are at the reception. Road to Ironman Arizona 2008: Ironman
http://db-ironman.blogspot.com/2008/04/ironman.html
Road to Ironman Arizona 2008. Tuesday, April 22, 2008. I did it. The Ironman, that is. I swam 2.4 miles. I cycled 112 miles. And then I ran a marathon, 26.2 miles. I finished in 12 hours, 48 minutes and 57 seconds. What an experience. I have learned so much through this experience. The thought of trying to put it all in to words has deterred me from starting this post, but I'll do my best to give you my take on everything. 1) I trained a long time for the Ironman. 3) I completed the Ironman. When I first...

Then Sings My Soul...: We are far too easily pleased...
http://davidandnik.blogspot.com/2008/04/we-are-far-too-easily-pleased.html
Then Sings My Soul. Sunday, April 27, 2008. We are far too easily pleased. I want to share with you something that hit me hard this morning. It's straight out of the book I am currently reading. One of the most important things I have ever read on my pilgrimage toward Christian Hedonism was from a sermon preached by C. S. Lewis in 1941. He said:. The enemy of worship is not that our desire for pleasure is too strong but too weak! Emphasis mine. I love you all. Wanting more than the "American Dream", David.

Road to Ironman Arizona 2008: The Storm before The Calm
http://db-ironman.blogspot.com/2008/04/storm-before-calm.html
Road to Ironman Arizona 2008. Friday, April 11, 2008. The Storm before The Calm. Today is calm, finally. I have been able to relax and exhale from all of the stress from the past two days. I've had some time to rest my mind, and I slept like a rock like night so my body feels great as well. As the race gets closer and closer I must steal Nikki's words to describe how I feel:. I'm psyched outta my mind for Sunday! But I welcome the challenge, I wouldn't want a cake walk to the finish line. Got to Phoenix ...

Road to Ironman Arizona 2008: 9 days away...
http://db-ironman.blogspot.com/2008/04/9-days-away.html
Road to Ironman Arizona 2008. Friday, April 4, 2008. Since 2003, I have run 3,930 miles. And since 2005, I have cycled 12,270 miles and have swum nearly 602,000 meters. I started running 5 years ago. I clearly remember being in grad school and setting the goal of running 5 miles without stopping. I wrote it down and everything. This was huge for me at the the time. So much has gone in to preparing for this race on April 13th. I can't wait to do this! I'll be wearing bib number 318. Child of God. Husb...

Then Sings My Soul. Thursday, April 23, 2009. Encountering the Reckless, Raging Fury. Hi there, it's been a while.I know, I know, don't hate. Just be glad there's an update! Wow, that actually rhymed, cool). What I learned today about God's love - His "Reckless, Raging Fury":. God loves us with an INTENSE love.He pursues us.It's not God loves you if you're good, it's not God loves you if He's having a good day. It's God loves you desperately, passionately- and it's a hard thing to get ahold o...We live f...

New Orleans 70.3 Race Report – April 18, 2010. 8220;These are the times I will truly remember fellas…”. Every race has a story. Here is mine from the New Orleans Half Ironman 70.3 race. For non-tri folks, a half ironman consists of a 1.2mile swim, a 56mile bike, and a 13.1mile run.). There is great anticipation that comes with stepping into the unknown. Mental focus was crystal clear. Spirits were high.

Then Sings My Soul...: Smiling in the Southwest :)
http://davidandnik.blogspot.com/2009/05/smiling-in-southwest.html
Then Sings My Soul. Monday, May 25, 2009. Smiling in the Southwest :). I can't even begin to describe what this trip has done for Nicole and I. Of course it has been fun (you should check facebook, Nik has put up a lot of cool pictures), but that's not really what I'm talking about. I don't know why people don't do this more - take trips and get away. But I'm not talking about 1 week; like a real trip, 2 weeks minimum. The perspective you get on life.how can it not be worth it?
