About Marcia

http://www.whittlinsnwood.com/about.html

I never planned to be a woodcarver. Actually, as a kid with 3 artistically and musically talented sisters, I was thoroughly convinced that there was nothing artistic about me. It wasn't until I was nearing the age of 40 that I decided to do "something stupid" and take an Adult Education drawing class. That ended up being one of those life-altering decisions. When a new student finishes a project, or conquers a new skill, or designs a first carving, I am not sure which of us is more excited! In my classes, I emphasize:. Relief and In-The-Round Techniques. Basic Drawing and Design. To get you started, I have uploaded a Tutorial on Carving Faces that you may find helpful. It is in PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format, and you are free to use at and pass it along. Click here to download "Carving Faces" Tutorial. Click here to download "Face Proportions" Diagram.

Welcome to Whittlins 'n Wood. Whether looking for a special gift, a unique item to add to your collection, or a striking accent piece, enjoy browsing through my galleries of original, hand carved and hand painted designs. Much of my work is influenced by the beauty, history, and natural resources of my New England surroundings. In the "Nautical Carvings" gallery, you will see several styles of the traditional "Downeast Fisherman" carved in genuine antique cedar lobster pot buoys. Please feel free to.
