Farm Dogs – Willow Creek Farm

https://willowcreekfarm.wordpress.com/farm-dogs

Our lead farm dog is Tundra. He is a chowchow/border collie mix that we got out of a cardboard box in front of a grocery store years befor. E we ever had a farm. He was raised as my husband’s work dog, going with him to construction sites. Amazingly, we found that once we had the farm he was very interested in protecting whatever he saw my husband taking care of. He is super loyal and super smart and when he saw husband caring. About Our Journey – Willow Creek Farm

https://willowcreekfarm.wordpress.com/our-journey-to-willow-creek-farm

Willow Creek Farm has been a dream that was a long time coming. I would like to share the short version of the story with you. Then came another move. This time we moved to a place where we would own over half an acre, with the house positioned far forward on the property, leaving plenty of space in the back for us to work closer to our dream of a family farm. When we purchased the place we were told the HOA had dissolved and we were allowed to have animals on the property, just not horses or cows. At th...

Heritage Arts – Willow Creek Farm

https://willowcreekfarm.wordpress.com/heritage-arts

To us the term “heritage arts” means the somewhat lost arts that used to be everyday necessities to our ancestors. We enjoy many of these arts and are always trying to learn new ones. Some of the ones we do are knitting, quilting, sewing clothing and household items, embroidery and needlework, soapmaking, crochet, rug braiding, tatting, spinning, and candlemaking. To read more about the heritage arts projects we are doing, click on the sidebar menu More About Our: Heritage Arts. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

The Farm Kitchen – Willow Creek Farm

https://willowcreekfarm.wordpress.com/in-the-farm-kitchen

Our kitchen is one of the busiest and most productive places in the house! We are always working together as a family in the kitchen to use and store the bounty of what our farm provides us from the animals and the garden. To read more about canning, freezing, making home dairy products, making homemade condiments and all that we do in our kitchen click on the sidebar menu “More About Our: Farm Kitchen.”. Wildlife Issues – Willow Creek Farm

https://willowcreekfarm.wordpress.com/2015/08/12/wildlife-issues

August 12, 2015. We have been having issues with local wildlife the last few weeks. One thing we love about living in the Rockies is the beautiful assortment of wildlife we get to view daily. But when trying to have a backyard farm and living side-by-side with that wildlife, issues tend to arise. So we chopped it up and froze it for use in soups this winter. We set a bunch of traps around his holes in the ground, hopefully we will catch him tonight. This entry was posted in Farm Life. Fill in your detail...

Break my fall | mud on my sneakers

https://mudonmysneakers.wordpress.com/2016/11/24/break-my-fall

Mud on my sneakers. Hay on the brain. Broken Toy Shop Photography. We eventually got to the point where the trail hits a gravel road and I had planned to turn right and head home but Calais seemed to have calmed down and things were going well so I thought we’d turn left and go a little further. We walked down a long steep hill through the bush and when the trail flattened out, I took him for a good canter. It was a real struggle to get him going, which is very unlike him! No no no no no no! But of cours...

September 29, 2016. Before and After Pics: Hacking, Chopping and Renovating. Well, the foggy cool days of winter are behind us, with views like this just a distant memory:. The sun is now out, and Spring, while not ushering in an explosion of blossoms as it does in cooler climates, has still brought with it the motivation to get some new projects up and moving. May 5, 2016. May 5, 2016. Delinquent guinea fowl and the ultimate chick-raising question: telling little roosters from little hens. I’m typing this to the *blissful* sound of our guinea fowls’ alarm calls on the back veranda. Kidding, of course. Our new guinea fowl are. Quieter. I do love them…but, like some relationships, a little distance might be useful to enhance those warm fuzzy feelings. Meanwhile hubby keeps muttering something about guinea fowl, camp ovens and roasting 😉. The Chicks Grow Up &#46...

January 1, 2017. January 1, 2017. And we’re back! Yes it’s 2017 and The Year of the Rooster (hence the pic). After an extended break the blog is back up and running. The farm of course never really stopped, though things did quieten down. So what’s been happening? You may remember the five mixed chicks we bought way back when:. The babies all grew up, as babies tend to do, and that sneaking suspicion I had that four out of five were roosters was absolutely…correct! None of the rooster chicks had those.
