John Rumbarger (1810-1889) was the original founder of DuBois, having established the original town of Rumbarger, formalized with its own post office in 1874 which later evolved and was finally renamed DuBois after lumbering magnate John DuBois. Today the Historic Cemetery is managed and maintained by the Rumbarger Cemetery Preservation Society.
