Writing for the Cycle: September 2014

Writing for the Cycle. Sports takes that touch 'em all. 9-7-14 Twins Blog: Selling Hope. At the end of their penultimate homestand, the Minnesota Twins left the friendly confines of Target Field with a record of 61-82. In the modern American classic, “The Shawshank Redemption”, we hear Tim Robbins as Andy Dufresne deliver perhaps the quintessential line of the movie in voice-over form. And really, when you boil baseball down to it's base elements, “hope” is what America's Pastime is all about. Baseball, ...

Singularly Random: June 2010
http://singularlyrandom.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 6, 2010. Spark" is a term that I hear often in relation to dating. In my experience, it's been used many times in relation to why I'm not getting a second date. As in: "You're a nice guy, but I just didn't feel a spark. We can be friends, but I don't think we should go out again.". But I don't think I can base a relationship's future solely on their existence or lack thereof. I don't think that sparks always develop immediately. Not to mention that it takes far more than a spark.

Singularly Random: May 2010
http://singularlyrandom.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 31, 2010. I'm good at making lists. I've got a lot of them. A "To Do" list, a wish list, a bucket list, a "bad habits to break" list.and more. They're not all written down, but they're at least in my head somewhere. Making them is easy. Executing them is more difficult. Really.I want to have fewer lists. Shorter lists. I need to do something about it. I need to make a step toward taking that grand adventure. Friday, May 21, 2010. Out With the New, In With the Old. A few years ago, I got into ...

Singularly Random: April 2012
http://singularlyrandom.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 22, 2012. My propensity and skill for procrastination are very well demonstrated and documented over the years. I continually tell myself that there will be time to do all these things and more down the road. Time to get in shape. Time to meet the woman of my dreams and start a family. Time to write that second novel. Time to learn to play guitar. Time to take improv classes. Time to learn to ballroom dance. I've failed at many, many things in my life. Fear of making a mistake? That may be ...

Singularly Random: March 2012
http://singularlyrandom.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 23, 2012. When I was in college I was never really a party animal or anything, but my Friday nights were definitely a time to be social. A coffee house, video games in someone's dorm room, out for pizza, an occasional. Addictive word game). I looked up and suddenly realized it was after 9:00. So I snuggled up with my computer and did some work on my taxes. What happened to me? College Josh would be so disappointed. Friday, March 9, 2012. Once Upon a Time. On television and Mirror Mirror.

Singularly Random: April 2010
http://singularlyrandom.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 22, 2010. The nature of auditions is that I turn all control of my fate over to other people. I'm not. Good at that. I'm a control freak. So doing this is good for me, right? If I want to be in shows, if I want to get that elusive supporting role that I've been pursuing for years (I don't seek the leading man role for the most part), the only thing to do is put myself out there and see what happens. But all the initial waiting? Tuesday, April 20, 2010. I'll deal with the title later.

Singularly Random: December 2011
http://singularlyrandom.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 30, 2011. I don't like new year's resolutions. Maybe it's me getting old and grumpy, maybe it's sheer semantics, but making resolutions just bugs me. I think that they're artificial in nature and somewhat forced upon us. I prefer to think about making decisions for my life, and not just at the end of December. Friday, December 23, 2011. On the other hand, one said that it ages me ten years. Another told me that it covers up my good looks (an interesting backhanded compliment, I suppo...

Singularly Random: The Great Outdoors
http://singularlyrandom.blogspot.com/2012/05/great-outdoors.html
Saturday, May 5, 2012. As I've gotten older and out on my own, I've found myself getting a bit more settled in suburban life. It's good- I enjoy it for the most part. Everything is convenient and easy to get to. I can fall into a comfortable routine. As easy as it was, I still found myself a little bit.unsettled. May 7, 2012 at 9:17 AM. Im jealous of the camping though. Ive still never been. :-(. May 9, 2012 at 9:52 AM. May 9, 2012 at 2:17 PM. I wish you luck taking the boys out camping. I know itll ...
