A Well-Oiled Machine | A Studio Rat's Diary

A Studio Rat's Diary. November 17, 2011 at 10:30 pm. As we enter the second half of November, and the days become shorter and colder, I must stop to reconsider what has happened to me over the last few months, and where I shall move on from here on out. And then, that is also failure. Well, if only you were stronger, you wouldn’t have cracked under the pressure. And even if so, you have to get up and keep running and make up for your losses. This isn’t an excuse to let myself fall apart. I’m stubborn...

A Studio Rat's Diary. As of this writing, it is two in the morning, and I have just finished recording my final project for Animation Principles (which I’ll post later). I haven’t yet posted part 2 of my CTNX report but that’s because I’ve been busting my back over this project! Please don’t mind my rambling, I’m sleep deprived. After posting this I am going to bed and I am going to sleep. December 3, 2010 at 10:44 am. CTN Animation eXpo 2010 (CTNX) SATURDAY. Last year- that was the first year! I took my...

A Studio Rat's Diary. Archive for November, 2011. Just a quick post to let you know of some changes around this website. I’ve added the function that lets you rate my blog posts. It is the five stars at the top of each post. Please use these to indicate what posts you liked, as it will help me to improve future posts! There are other things that I haven’t gotten around to yet, but I will change very soon:. I have a very boring header to this blog. Soon I will fix it up to make it more appealing. What if ...

A Studio Rat's Diary. Archive for November, 2010. CTN Animation eXpo 2010 (CTNX) SATURDAY. I had already attended the Creative Talent Network Animation eXpo. Last year- that was the first year! And in its second year, I was impressed by how much it grew. I estimated it was about twice as large this time around. They even took up two exhibit rooms! Lots of cool art and so many people! It was so great! Wandering around some more…. Here, drawing demonstrations. A model posing for figure-drawing sessions!

A Studio Rat's Diary. Archive for December, 2010. Animation Principles Final Critique Steve and the Surprise Box. I woke up this morning at 11. This is already pretty late to wake up on any normal day, but given that I went to bed at 8, that means I was asleep for 15 hours. That’s not counting the nap I took in the afternoon. And with good reason! I was utterly exhausted by noon yesterday. I had only slept for about six hours and had to wake up to go to our final critique. Here’s my final project:. Maybe...

Anxiety | A Studio Rat's Diary
https://studioratdiary.wordpress.com/2011/11/23/anxiety
A Studio Rat's Diary. November 23, 2011 at 7:04 pm. The thing about having an anxiety disorder is that it makes you terrified of freaking everything. I know, from a rational perspective, that the teachers, counselors, advisors, administrators, doctors, friends and family members have been nothing but extremely helpful, kind and generous to me. And yet, whenever I have to bring up one of my problems, my mind is tangled in a series of uncontrollable fears. What if they think I’m weak? The blog of an animat...

A Studio Rat's Diary. Well, here we are. November 23, 2013 at 11:37 am. When I started this blog, I was an enthusiastic 18-year-old with ambitious and optimistic dreams for the future. I started this blog with the intent of documenting a journey of discovery and learning as I developed as an artist. And for one semester in 2010, it went according to plan. Then things got blown way off course. Anyway, this is a sad post, but it’s just to get everyone caught up on my feelings for these past three yea...

A Studio Rat's Diary. Style, Fundamentals, and the Very Important Balance Thereof. March 18, 2011 at 7:27 am. As promised, here is the follow-up to my previous entry, ‘”Anime Fan’ Labeling”. I’d like to start this by saying that Style is Not Bad. Style is something inherent in any work of art. It is impossible to produce something without showing the origins of your influences. Style builds upon style; that’s how art works. So what happens then? 8221; and you can do so without batting an eyelash. 8221; H...
