Working Order: March 2015
http://working-order.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Stuff management, decluttering, organising: everyday solutions. Thoughts of an organiser. Disposing of unwanted stuff. Sunday, 22 March 2015. Do the default settings on your computer work for you? If you find that every time you start a new document in (say) Microsoft Word that you're driven nuts by the need to change the font, its size, the margin settings or whatever, you need to change what your computer sees as 'normal'. Often the manufacturer's settings won't be to your taste, or practical needs.

Rector's Wife Revamp: Determination helps me through
http://rectorswiferevamp.blogspot.com/2014/07/determination-helps-me-through.html
Sunday, 20 July 2014. Determination helps me through. As one of my friends has pointed out, this was a line in a song that I sang in a concert last night (Noel Coward's If Love Were All. If you were wondering). About ten days ago, I was a bit annoyed with myself for getting a target wrong. Let me explain. I had to publish a silly photo to share with my Obsidian friends on Facebook, so this was it. Caption really should be (if you know your James Cagney films): "I made it, Ma - top of the world! I'd strug...

Rector's Wife Revamp: One year on
http://rectorswiferevamp.blogspot.com/2015/06/one-year-on.html
Thursday, 4 June 2015. Apologies if this is just too smug. but I seriously need reminding sometimes of what the achievements are. One year ago today, I had my first weight-in, measure-in, counselling session and juices at Obsidian. In a way that I'd forgotten was possible. My very heaviest weight was in fact two pounds higher than shown above, shortly before my visit to Spain, so:. Weight dropped from 13-1 to 10-6. BMI has gone from just over 30 to just over 24. Widest part measurement was 45", now 40".

Rector's Wife Revamp: February 2015
http://rectorswiferevamp.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, 28 February 2015. There are a couple of bits of software that appeal to my geek-who-curates tendencies. They look back at your postings in linked social media accounts, and remind you of what was going on x. Years ago. Momento. Is one; Timehop. There are also my own records. It won't surprise anyone who knows me to hear that I have a complete spreadsheet of weight and fitness records, going back nearly twenty years, to 1996. How sad is that? Nearly four months later. So on 19 February 2015, I'm...

Rector's Wife Revamp: July 2011
http://rectorswiferevamp.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Friday, 22 July 2011. Hiding from y'all - and from myself. Thank you to Thirkellgirl for caring enough to ask how things are going. My prolonged absence gives you the answer: not well. My 'mindful eating', CBT approach worked beautifully for several months (not just a few days or weeks). I shed around ten pounds between August and Christmas of last year. It remained static for the next few months, and then it was Eastertide again. What is it about Easter? No, it's not the eggs, before you ask! Tomorrow i...

Stuff management, decluttering, organising: everyday solutions. Thoughts of an organiser. Disposing of unwanted stuff. Wednesday, 15 July 2015. A few weeks ago, I was honoured and delighted to have been credited, in some small part, with assisting a client of mine to move on to a new phase of her life. Our decluttering work on her house, a couple of years ago, helped her to find the emotional freedom to be open to a new relationship and home. You can read about that here. The smallest changes can make su...

Working Order: June 2014

Stuff management, decluttering, organising: everyday solutions. Thoughts of an organiser. Disposing of unwanted stuff. Sunday, 8 June 2014. Think before you share. I tend to leave politics out of my social media activities. However, some extremist groups get me seriously worried, and especially when they are using emotional manipulation and innocence to further their own aims. Some of the posts that Britain First have been using for manipulative purposes ("if you don't like this post it means you don't a...
