Dr Robin Anne Reid. It will never happen I know, but. Jul 5th, 2007 at 12:09 PM. Could the internet just sloooow down a bit? I realized, as I was backtracking through this journal (and I should start making use of tags from the start, really I should! That my entry on "race"* in recent fandom debates (March! And it's now July) was still waiting to be finished. And now a whole new "race" debate has come along, on the handling of the character of Martha in Dr. Who. Gotta learn to use that.program?

Internet Corpus UPdate - Dr. Robin Anne Reid
http://robin-anne-reid.livejournal.com/42936.html
Dr Robin Anne Reid. Oct 15th, 2011 at 2:25 PM. I haven't posted in a while- our house flooded in April, and the summer was made even busier by dealing with ALL the stuff (new flooring installed in July! But I've not stopped working on my projects relating to fandom, imbroglios, and digital methodologies. How can this very messy data be processed, i.e. cleaned and converted, so that standard corpus tools can be used to analyze the textual messages. And he has a graduate student in his department who is do...

Background on Genre Preferences Posts - Dr. Robin Anne Reid

Dr Robin Anne Reid. Background on Genre Preferences Posts. Apr 17th, 2011 at 4:42 PM. Back in 2003-2004 when I first started doing fan studies scholarship, I began to work with written texts, fan fictions, not so much from a traditional literary analytical viewpoint. One of the early projects was exploring the issue of fans who loved reading dark/torture/grim fics (as one person said, hurt but no comfort! That publication wasn't until 2009:. Someday, if I can get together with a statistician and a recept...

Bias in SFF - Dr. Robin Anne Reid
http://robin-anne-reid.livejournal.com/42209.html
Dr Robin Anne Reid. May 28th, 2011 at 9:44 AM. Nicola Griffith links to poll in UK in which, no surprise, most of the 'favorite' sf authors listed were men. She's wanting to work on addressing this bias:. Anyone got a platform through which they can put out a call for same? ETA: Some links I contributed to the discussion:. Http:/ www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/fe. This article and the stats are not specific to sff. There are genre biasses build into the reviewing system. Still more on gender bias in sf.
