My Keys On: Writing, Illustrating, and more: How I Do What I Do

http://writtenbymikey.blogspot.com/p/how-i-do-what-i-do.html

How I Do What I Do. I like every picture I draw to tell a story. I also like to try and place some humor in the pictures. As a perfectionist I might go through many drafts before I find the right fit. Of course the rates continually change as the market changes, and I want my clients to be 100% satisfied for what they buy. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. If you like my work and are interested in having me illustrate for you please email me. I love comments. Please share:. League of Uta...

My Keys On: Writing, Illustrating, and more: 5 Plots for Picture Books

http://writtenbymikey.blogspot.com/2012/09/5-plots-for-picture-books.html

Thursday, September 20, 2012. 5 Plots for Picture Books. Deciding which way for your story to go can sometimes be solved with just trying to write your story in a specific plot structure. There are 5 basic plots that I have found for picture books. I want to start with the most common and then work my way out from there. Plot 1: Try and Fail. I see this plot in most stories because I believe it is the best for picture books. The Main Character has a problem that needs solving. Plot 2: A Series of Events.

My Keys On: Writing, Illustrating, and more: Spooky Summer Reading

http://writtenbymikey.blogspot.com/2015/08/spooky-summer-reading.html

Saturday, August 1, 2015. I am really amazed at how much summer reading I have been able to get done this year. Normally it's just a few books here and there but I am seriously cruising through them. It helps that I listen to most of them on audiobook as I illustrate. Something I believe everyone should try at least once —. Audiobooks are so full of imagery and can really heighten the emotions. I'm still blazing through Protected. By Cindy M. Hogan, book 2 in the Watched series. Can they be redeemed?

Saturday, January 24, 2009. The Perfect Pregnant Father. It's easy to be a perfect expectant dad. All a man has to do is fallow ten rules. He would never ask, "If I go to sleep while my wife's in labor, will they wake me up when the baby's born? He thinks his wife looks wonderful pregnant. He tells her over and over that he never realized how sexy pregnant women are. In fact, he is so enraptured by his wife that he doesn't even notice other women. (Or if he does, he keeps it to himself.). He plans from t...

Wednesday, February 11, 2009. Merlynn and the Mouse. So the other day Brooke and I found a mouse in the laundry room- I am happy to say that I wasn't. The one to scream like a girl. So after finding our little, unwanted friend I went and got some sticky mouse traps. We caught the little guy just minutes after I put them down, but I left two more on each side of the room, just in case of others. Well the next day we ran to the library and came back to find Merlynn. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Merlynn is o...

7 Reasons to Cook at Home. April 7, 2015. Gone are the days of Father coming home to the sit-down dinner that Mother spent all afternoon preparing. With the exponential growth of dual-income and single-parent families, the elaborate, home-cooked dinner is going by the wayside. But is it worth all the fast food? Fast food and restaurants are expensive. Eating out and ordering in wreaks havoc on the family budget. Restaurants and take-out cost at least double what cooking from scratch costs.
