Considering artists start with little more than an idea, and generate whole new perspectives on the world, something from nothing could describe a lot of artwork. My intention, through this blog, is to explore other bodies of work that were created from nothing, or at least from materials considered inconsequential or non-traditional. The closest I’ve gotten to “nothing” as source material for my artwork is scanned gesture. For instance, my dandelion motif is made from the space between my fingers when they’re pressed flat together. Here’s a video.
