Building a Somes Sound Wooden Boat in Hong Kong. Marine wood in Hong Kong. Thursday, 10 July 2014. Re-launch and first sail. Wow, six months since the last post! Well, it's taken those 6 months. to find and fit a boom, to make the fittings for running and standing rigging and get the Mainsail made for Gabrielle. So, anyhow, here we are with the second launching of Gabrielle. We hope to tow her over to her Discovery Bay mooring next week (or so.), for her new owner David to take delivery. To mark out the ...

Building a Somes Sound Wooden Boat in Hong Kong. Marine wood in Hong Kong. Friday, 2 August 2013. For Sail to good home. An SS at rest. Gabrielle is same colours. The time has come, the walrus said. I don't have any room to keep the little wooden picnic day-boat I built (aka "Gabrielle"), so I'm inviting interest form someone who would like to take her over in as-is shape. And that's basically finished, but with mast to be stepped ( mast included. And sails needed. Sitting at the RHKYC boatyard.

Before our departure in 2011. I'm posting this a bit belatedly I'm afraid, but Tom Rowley of The Telegraph. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Cape to Cairo 2011. Driving a 1968 Mustang from Cape Town to Cairo, Sep-Oct '11. Wednesday, 19 October 2011. Harghada: Butlins on the Red Sea. I didn't get my own photo of Harghada, on the Red Sea in Egypt,. So I pinched this off the internet - it rather flatters the place. Yesterday arvo, we limped in to this place, Harghada. We limped because we broke another leaf spring, this time the main rear right one, and car now at the workshop being fixed if it can. On this trip, once at a lodge in Zambia, quite...

Building a Somes Sound Wooden Boat in Hong Kong: Mast on...
http://mywoodboat.blogspot.com/2013/12/mast-on.html
Building a Somes Sound Wooden Boat in Hong Kong. Marine wood in Hong Kong. Monday, 2 December 2013. Mast and boom on, but boom needs a bit of work on the goose-neck. Sanded back for new painting. It's been a while to get the mast done, various reasons, all too boring to note here. But now she's got the mast, forestay and shrouds on, and looking good. Noel has done a good job. He's also installed the Centreboard. Noel also made the mast step and bracket. Feels solid. Then we can go for a sail!
