The high four-and-a-half (. Whose stories are they? This is a personal essay I have been trying to write for a very, very long time. It isn't sparked by one thing in particular, but it comes in response to, and accord with, things I've read by. I'm not speaking for all Jews here, and I'm not speaking for those listed above, but I am also not just speaking for myself. Is traditionally limited to men willing to devote their entire life to the practice. The first letter of the first word of the Torah is bet.

Can we finally lay this particular linguistic lie to rest? December 4th, 2010. It is JUST NOT TRUE that "he" is a "gender-neutral" pronoun in English. It never has been true. English HAS no gender-neutral pronoun; it lost it centuries ago in the transition from being German. Each student should retrieve his books before leaving the classroom. Okay, so far, so good, right? That looks a little archaic, but doesn't violate the idea that "he/him/his" COULD be gender-neutral, right? But try the next one:.

It's impossible to not identify, at least somewhat, with Mark Watney, the main character. So much of the story is his log entries that any reader is going to spend most of the book inside his head.
