Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Whenever the liberation of women was welcomed as a goal, it came as a top-down decree. According to Kathleen Sheldon, author of. Pounders of Grain: A History of Women, Work, and Politics in Mozambique. These proclamations were usually stated “without benefit of a woman's movement in society” (Sheldon 117). Deirdre: Democracy for Deirdre
http://adpmdeirdrek.blogspot.com/2009/09/democracy-for-deirdre.html
Wednesday, September 23, 2009. What I find interesting about discussing democracy is how arbitrary the term actually is when you seek to define it. How do you define an idea (or an ideal, for that matter), especially one as multifaceted as democracy? I suppose to start one must think “what does democracy mean to. Then venture from there. I feel strongly about being heard, mainly because more often than not, I am ignored. John Calhoun resonates most deeply,. How ‘free’ is ‘free’? As Maxwell Owusu writes, ...

Deirdre: November 2009
http://adpmdeirdrek.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

I never can really say. Of course it was amazing, but to just say that doesn't tell anyone how the trip really. What is my election day story? I'm sure life (and careers) become just a little harder for that individual. At least that's the impression I got at Eduardo Mondlane. Tuesday, November 10, 2009. And that e...

My Mozambique: Magnificent Mozambique for Students
http://msbreen.blogspot.com/2009/12/magnificent-mozambique-for-students.html
Friday, December 18, 2009. Magnificent Mozambique for Students. I thought that creating a website would be useful for both teachers and students to explore different aspects of Mozambique. It would also be used by teachers as a way to differentiate instruction by allowing students to work at their individual pace through the unit. As our larger project team split into our individual g...

Monday, February 21, 2011. Online Class on the Continent of Africa. It's been a year since I've posted anything, but since I've visited the "Motherland", Africa is never too far away. I've started an online class at Wayne State University and this time it is studying the continent of Africa. One of our assignments was to create a blog for our class. I had created one and thought, "why throw the baby out with the bathwater? So, here we go.back to Mozambique (via multimedia that is). Cam Wimpy's Blog.
