See This Film: The Brown Bunny
http://seethisfilm.blogspot.com/2005/10/brown-bunny_26.html
Wednesday, October 26, 2005. My first exposure to Vincent Gallo was a viewing of. In my American Independent Cinema class senior year of college. I’m not sure exactly why it had taken me so long to see that film since I heard quite a bit about it. Yet there are only so many films a person can view and thus,. At the same time my class was studying Gallo and his first film, Gallo’s sophomore film,. Was all about. Did the sex scene ruin the entire viewing experience? As my taste in cinema has become more re...

See This Film: Layer Cake
http://seethisfilm.blogspot.com/2006/02/layer-cake_02.html
Thursday, February 02, 2006. This week I had the pleasure of viewing Layer Cake. Matthew Vaughn's directorial debut starring Daniel Craig, Sienna Miller and a host of other talented Brits. Prior to this film, Matthew Vaughn was known for producing British indie hits, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Is that while crime does pay, and very well at that, it can also make you an employee for life where the only way out of your contract is a bullet through the chest. See This Film: No Country for Old Men
http://seethisfilm.blogspot.com/2007/11/no-country-for-old-men.html
Monday, November 26, 2007. No Country for Old Men. What's this guy supposed to be, the ultimate badass? It's almost the end of November and I think I've finally found myself the best movie of 2007. While there is still a month to go and plenty of Oscar-fare left to see, I doubt anything can top No Country for Old Men. It may not have the soul-stirring edginess of Gone, Baby, Gone. Or the action-packed slickness of 3:10 to Yuma. But it does have two things no other film has this year: Joel and Ethan Coen.

See This Film: Atonement
http://seethisfilm.blogspot.com/2008/01/atonement.html
Tuesday, January 15, 2008. When I first started seeing ads for Atonement. And learned it was another costume drama collaboration between director Joe Wright and actress Keira Knightley, I didn't get too excited right away. Sure, I loved Pride and Prejudice. That's exactly why Atonement. Totally flipped the period picture on its head. Is a fantastic cinematic experience because while it is brutal and hard on the psyche, it is also very intoxicating and pleasurable for the senses. There Will Be Blood.

See This Film: Crash*
http://seethisfilm.blogspot.com/2006/02/crash_15.html
Wednesday, February 15, 2006. In the last ten years, there has been a clear correlation between Best Picture nominees and late theatrical releases. With the exception of Erin Brockovich. Released in March of 2000) and the occasional summer blockbuster ( Moulin Rouge. Was competing with a plethora of extraordinary films all of which were released in the past few months, I was hoping that the Academy would simply remember Crash. When I sat in the theater back in June watching the closing credits of Crash.
