Vintage Hoard: July 2010
http://vintagehoard.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
The vintage items I own have very little monetary value. For me, they are a tiny slice of history to be cherished and enjoyed. Tuesday, July 27, 2010. A vintage hatter's rule and plastic tape measure. The opposite side of the ruler has a table listing the corresponding sizes, head and hat measurements (click on photo to enlarge). I measured my head with a cloth tape (22 inches), and I'm a size 7 1/8, and would fit a size 23 hat. I'm sure this will come in handy some day. Tuesday, July 13, 2010. About ten...

Vintage Hoard: Hey, Hey, It's the Monkees
http://vintagehoard.blogspot.com/2010/10/hey-hey-its-monkees.html
The vintage items I own have very little monetary value. For me, they are a tiny slice of history to be cherished and enjoyed. Friday, October 1, 2010. Hey, Hey, It's the Monkees. In the 60's, when I was 11 or 12, I was a huge Monkees fan - I had their albums and never missed their silly, but fun television show. I loved all the band members, but liked Mike Nesmith best (must've been the hat). One Christmas, my sister and I found these scarves under the tree:. October 1, 2010 at 4:51 PM. A Thing for Roses.

Vintage Hoard: From the Bookshelf
http://vintagehoard.blogspot.com/2010/10/from-bookshelf.html
The vintage items I own have very little monetary value. For me, they are a tiny slice of history to be cherished and enjoyed. Tuesday, October 12, 2010. I've had the cast iron shoe form/last for so long, I forget where it came from. It's about 6 3/4 inches long, and marked only with a "C". Over the years, it's been moved around from bookshelves to tabletops, settling (for now) on top of some books, sitting on my coffee table. Who knows where he will travel to next? The best way to take care of the hair ...

Animal Ovation: Bee Keeper
http://animalovation.blogspot.com/2010/09/bee-keeper.html
Tales from a nature and animal lover. Monday, September 6, 2010. Because of the recent decline in the honeybee population. My husband was worried that they might sting someone, but we seldom use the front door. I know all of the bees will die once the cold weather sets in, but I'm not sure if the queen will remain in the nest. We should seal it up in the fall, but I'm concerned we might be trapping the queen inside. Any suggestions? September 6, 2010 at 11:45 AM. September 6, 2010 at 12:10 PM. Heres $20 ...

Animal Ovation: Timber!
http://animalovation.blogspot.com/2010/06/timber.html
Tales from a nature and animal lover. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. The town recently cut down a tree on my neighbour's front lawn because of root damage. Only in the past few years had the 20-year-old elm stretched its limbs far enough to provide a wonderful canopy of shade. Kind of sad, but residential trees live a very precarious existence, their lives hinging on the whims of humans. Well of course I did. Hooray for no nests! Boo for losing another majestic tree. Animal Ovation: May 2010
http://animalovation.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Tales from a nature and animal lover. Monday, May 17, 2010. I might call the OSPCA because they do take in wildlife, but considering what's been happening there lately, they might be a little too busy (more on that in a later post, but you can read a bit about it in the May 2010 posts on my other blog. When I went out to take this photo (click to enlarge), I frightened him, and he flew into the cedar hedge, then bounced off. At least he's able to fly now, so perhaps he just needs some time to rest. Animal Ovation: Fixing A Hole Where The Rain Gets In
http://animalovation.blogspot.com/2010/06/fixing-hole-where-rain-gets-in.html
Tales from a nature and animal lover. Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Fixing A Hole Where The Rain Gets In. There seems to be a lot of ants around. Last year, they'd made a home in the mailbox. Love that song.). Ants loved living beneath my pavers, too. I think they preferred the sand. But squatters in the compost? Hey, they knew it was temporary when they moved in. June 23, 2010 at 11:29 AM. If we lifted our pavers or interlock, Im sure wed see a wonderful maze of ant tunnels. June 23, 2010 at 11:47 AM. Ink i...

Animal Ovation: Garden Favourites
http://animalovation.blogspot.com/2010/08/garden-favourites.html
Tales from a nature and animal lover. Sunday, August 22, 2010. My cat, Meeko, likes going into the yard, but always ends up eating grass, which she promptly vomits once she's back in the house. That would be okay if my carpets were green. Last year, I had to pull hundreds of my beautiful pink rose campions - they'd seeded everywhere and threatened to overtake the garden. But I see that many seeds have sprouted, so I'll be able to enjoy them again next year. August 23, 2010 at 11:14 AM. Thanks, Georgie, I...
