Jan 15th, 2013 10:43 pm. This past weekend, I went down to Raleigh for the 2nd annual Illogicon - a small regional science-fiction convention. I figured it might be a good idea to know some people outside work when I move down there, and this was an excellent excuse. (. I-Con report - mostly gaming, some other stuff. They're pretty neat, huh? 2015-06-22 09:48 pm (UTC). This was the first time I've seen juvenile night herons. A couple of them let me get quite close, and this is the shot that came out best. Pretty heavily cropped, but I can live with that. (I had almost. 2015-06-22 10:45 pm (UTC). I don't think I've ever seen a juvenile. 2015-06-23 10:02 am (UTC).

Attended an African-American church choir performance tonight. - ptor. 10:16 pm July 14th, 2012. Attended an African-American church choir performance tonight. Armand, friend of Cassiyrose's late friend, Richard, was performing in the choir. Pretty singing, full of spirit and way more interesting than what I grew up with: WASPy Presbyterian boredom, before I bailed out as a junior atheist. Posted via m.livejournal.com. We have ballot questions. I have ballot answers. - E. K. Mangosteen. 03 November 2014 @ 01:31 pm. We have ballot questions. I have ballot answers. Some thoughts on the MA Ballot questions:. 1 Halting the inflation-indexing of the gas tax. What it would do: YES would halt indexing of the gas tax to CPI. NO would maintain the status quo of an inflation-indexed gas tax. What I want to happen: Roads have to get paid for somehow. 2 Expanding the Bottle Bill. 3 Making casinos illegal in MA. What it would do: Y...

Queen of the Night. January 22, 2014. Wow, it’s been a long time since I wrote here. Virtual dust piled an inch thick on every digital corner. After Morris, I just didn’t have the heart to for a while. And by the time I could consider it, I was far too busy to have the chance. Meantime, I’m here in Michigan now, and even with the snow we’ve had and my snow aversion, and the massive polar vortex that brought polar cold down here and gave us record low temperatures (-14.2 here! The big move - Berkeley Mews. Jan 7th, 2013 11:31 pm. Sometime this year, likely late Spring/early Summer, I will be moving to North Carolina - the Raleigh/Durham area, working in RTP. I'll be down there for maybe 6 months before wren13 and the herd come down - which will greatly complicate things. This will be pretty complex, and while I am looking forward to living in NC, I am really not looking forward to the actual transition. Somme notes of things from this year that I will miss:.

An actual post - Berkeley Mews. Jan 7th, 2013 11:16 pm. I was recently chided for not posting in . well, forever-ish. So, here is what might be a rebirth of my journal. Why did I stop posting? Anyway, I'll try to keep up - I do have a bunch of stuff to catch up on, so finding content (that at least interests me) won't be hard. 2013-01-08 05:31 pm (UTC).

Best Central Valley Ride Evar - curmudgeonly chaos. Best Central Valley Ride Evar. Laquo; previous entry. Next entry ». Sep 12th, 2010 08:50 pm. I left my friend's place outside of Chico at about noon. My only commitment was to get to Mountain View by evening. I decided to ride the backroads of the Central Valley and see if I could avoid freeways. In all it was a great ride and the best evar through the central valley. Sep 14th, 2010 12:52 am (UTC). Bicycles and cars - curmudgeonly chaos. Laquo; previous entry. Next entry ». Jun 23rd, 2010 12:47 pm. There is a problem in communication between bicyclists and cars. I've been a long time advocate of the rights of bicyclists in traffic. I've always thought that most problems are caused by inattentive drivers. Sometimes, though, the problem is with the bicyclists not doing what is expected in traffic. Today, I experienced the situation from the car perspective. How could this have gone better? Actually, ...
