This is the Martindale valley next to the stunning Lake Ullswater. Fantastic area and some excellent tramping (fell walking these parts). Loved the ride from the main highway up to Mount Cook Village dunrig the day. Great vista points indeed, watching Mount Cook get bigger and bigger straight ahead. After an amazing Dark Skies of Wonder workshop on the shores of Lake Tekapo we spotted some aurora on the horizon, I knew I had to rush to a good location and shoot. This green arc is apparently pretty typical in years gone by but not seen for a decade or more.
