The Zig Zag is a full size, narrow gauge tourist railway located at Clarence, ten km east of Lithgow in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. Built in the 1860s, the line was constructed to transport people and produce from the western plains of NSW to Sydney. It was replaced in 1910 by a 10 tunnel deviation. Designed by Digital Wisdom.

Since the disastrous bush fire in October 2013 fire swept through the railway, volunteers have been busy replacing lost machinery, repairing buildings and rolling stock and preparing for the eventual recommencement of tourist railway operations. On Thursday 17 October 2013 fire swept through the railway, following an outbreak to the west the previous day, fanned by strong winds. Thanks to heroic efforts by the fire services no lives were lost. But several houses were lost. Alas much Zig Zag rolling stock was also lost. See Press Release Zig Zag Railway Fire October 2013. We hope to restart in 2015.
