rock quarries & applesauce sandwiches: W.S. Merwin....
http://applesaucesandwiches.blogspot.com/2010/07/ws-merwin.html
This made my day. WS Merwin to Be Named Poet Laureate. Photo from the NYT). WS Merwin is one of my favorite poets. I was lucky enough to see him read in Seattle this year. To see him honored in such a way thrills my heart. My favorite quote from the reading I attended: "Try to praise the mutilated world because the mutilated world is the whole world." He is a man who finds beauty everywhere and then shares it with the public. Posted by Meghan M. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Shop Zimbags on Etsy.

It all comes back to math. So I have avoided becoming a "blogger" for a long time, but math has led me to believe it is time. Why a blog now? Here's how the equation of my life looks right now:. French Pastries (and Mashed Potatoes and Milkshakes). The need to remember things that I am blessed with. Why rock quarries and applesauce sandwiches? Because these are two of my favorite things. (Julie Andrews tried to fit them in "The Sound of Music", but she just couldn't figure out how.). I am thankful for:.

It's been awhile, huh? Well, of course it has. Things have been busy around here, what with getting ready to move and visiting family and watching the leaves change colors. A few things I'm thankful for today:. 1 Our house is now a house. It's not just 2x4s stuck in the ground with a little cement. Le Maison has windows, doors, walls, actual stairs, and all sorts of surfaces I am looking forward to cleaning. Before . After photo coming. Posted by Meghan M. Hope everything is going well with you!

Tired and soon to be more tired. It's late, I'm tired and this week looks crazy long right now. But I'm so thankful for so many things. I'm thankful for . Being able to walk to the grocery store when we need eggs for cookies. Sleeping in on Sundays! Always a great way to start a day. Picking out the color of our house: dark grey, white trim, black shutters, and a red door! Refreshing conversations about ideals and dreams. Posted by Meghan M. Long, but good days. I remember most clearly:. Please excuse th...

One Year and A1C. It's also been exactly 4 months since I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. It was also 109 degrees today (sans AC and with a fever due to an infection). It hasn't been the best day, but there have been worse days. On a happier note, my A1C is 7% with is very close to normal! For those of you who don't know, an A1C is a blood test that can show the average blood glucose levels for the past 3 months.) Normal is between 5-6%, when diagnosed my A1C was over 14%. 4 Sisters. Growing up I...

My gardens have been growing beautifully and it excites me to no end. Out front we have planted strawberries and lavender in planters and this morning the most exciting thing happened . a strawberry was ready to be picked and eaten. And so we did just that. Ryan and I split the wee little thing and it was very tasty. It makes me so happy that we can grow and eat our own food. The lettuce is getting close to eat-able and the peas are growing superbly. Thankfully things seem to be looking up. Not hard to do lately, but I will take it! My mom made me a beautiful quilt while she was here. It is amazing what she can do in such a short amount of time. I know have a mom hug readily available at all times. Look who's getting the most use of it. I have always said that if I had the opportunity to participate in a research study for any of my diseases I would. So here I am and the Benaroya. In the country dealing with Type 1. I spoke with Dr. Greenbaum. I wish...
